Downtown Disney is a shopper’s paradise – the complex offers tons of specialty shops that offer a myriad of unique items for purchase, and there’s also tons of Disney merchandise available too! While there are plenty of chances to give your credit card a workout at Downtown Disney, there are also plenty of other things to do there besides shop. Shocking, right? Let’s explore some of the entertainment options that Downtown Disney has to offer:

Fly High In The Sky: Characters In Flight is an attraction that allows you to fly 400 feet above Disney in the world’s largest tethered helium balloon. If you’ve ever been to Downtown Disney you have probably seen it floating in the air – with the classic Disney characters painted on it – so Aladdin, Tinkerbell, Dumbo and more will be along for the ride too! For approximately 10 minutes you get to check out the amazing 360 degree view of all that is Disney – you can see the Resorts, the Parks, it’s breathtaking and an awesome way to try something totally different

You Won’t Go Hungry: The dining options at Downtown Disney are seriously awesome – you can grab a quick bite at Earl of Sandwich, which serves up sandwiches all day on freshly baked bread (and salads and a killer brownie sandwich too), or enjoy some fresh seafood at Fulton’s Crab House, or head over to my personal favorite eatery in all of Downtown Disney – Raglan Road Irish Pub – where the authentic Irish cuisine will thrill your taste buds – from the Shepherd’s Pie to the fish and chips and the amazing bread pudding – I have not had anything but delicious experiences there! Plus there is a HUGE bar with an extensive beer list, and there’s live Irish music and dancers too – it’s a lively place that you will definitely not want to miss

Enjoy A Unique Cirque Show: “La Nouba” is Cirque Du Soleil’s show that was created just for Walt Disney World, and the term is translated to mean “the party” – and its definitely a party for the eyes and senses! Acrobats, singers, clowns, jugglers, and trapeze artists perform amazing tricks and routines with amazing colors and scenery to see too. There are over 65 performers present that represent 15 different countries – quite the eclectic mix, and the show itself is one you won’t want to miss!

Get Bowled Over At Splitsville Luxury Lanes: This is no ordinary bowling alley – the inside is done in a retro motif, with two floors that feature 30 lanes for bowling, billiards tables, an outdoor patio for dining, live music and dancing, and some amazing eats too – a full bar, and a really diverse menu – sushi, pizza, burgers, and more are available. I don’t know about you – but my bowling experience generally consists of a smoke filled alley with limp pizza and flat beer on the menu – so Splitsville is a huge step up for me – and definitely worth a try

Take In A Movie: Head over to the AMC Downtown Disney 24 Theater, where all the newest movies are playing – and they are serving up some great food too! The “Dine-In” Movie theaters feature the chance to take in dinner and a movie all at once! Choose from items like bang bang shrimp, smoke brisket quesadilla, thai coconut chicken tenders, and much more – all served to you while you enjoy the latest and greatest movies. The theater also has a full bar and concession stand that offers a wide range of delicious snacks to choose from (don’t worry, popcorn and boxed candy are available here too for you “movie theater purists”)

Enjoy A Rainy Day Of Play: Disney Quest is an indoor interactive theme park where you can escape the elements and enjoy games like “Cyber Space Mountain” – where you get to design your own virtual roller coaster, “Animation Academy” – a chance to learn to draw your favorite Disney characters, and a huge selection of classic arcade video games to choose from too – Pac-Man, Centipede, Asteroids – all the best ones are there!

I know many people consider Downtown Disney to mainly just be a place to shop – and don’t get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE shopping there, but I also love that Disney really has turned this space into an entertainment complex with tons to do, see and explore! I highly recommend you try out some of the awesome activities offered in Downtown Disney next time you are vacationing at the Place Where Dreams Come True
