Zoe Saldana, who played Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar film, paid a visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week to explore the new Pandora – The World of Avatar expansion and be on hand for the dedication ceremony which took place Wednesday May 24, 2017.
Zoe was seen throughout Pandora this week where she had an opportunity see James Cameron’s vision come to life and to enjoy rides such as Avatar Flight of Passage. In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine that took place during this visit, she admitted to feeling overwhelmed at seeing the magical world of the Na’vi re-created with such amazing detail.
In her interview with PEOPLE Zoe Saldana says of Pandora, “I’m trying to find the words that best describe my feelings, because I was here yesterday for the first time and I brought my family and it’s only through my family’s and my friends’ eyes that I’m able to give myself a moment of pause and absorb all of this.”
Saldana and her costar in Avatar, Sigourney Weaver, both admitted to being moved to tears after riding the new Avatar Flight of Passage attraction which gives guests the opportunity to climb on the back of a banshee and soar among the floating mountains.
Zoe is slated to reprise her role a Neytiri in the remaining three films of the Avatar franchise. The sequels are slated to be released in December of 2021, 2024 and 2025.
Pandora- The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World officially opens its gates to the public on Saturday, May 27.
