Two Treasured Disney Classic Films Join The National Film Registry

Carla Hayden, the 14th librarian of Congress, with deliberation from National Film Preservation Board have selected 25 films to join the 2016 National Film Registry. Two of the films that were selected were Disney films, “The Lion King” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.”

“The Lion King” the animated classic musical that premiered in 1994, and became one the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The film was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, and went on to win two Oscars for its score, and for the song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

“Who Framed Roger Rabbit” the 1988 film was a massive project that incorporated live-action and animation. The film directed by Robert Zemeckis, and went on to win multiple Oscars.
