Tommorowland’s box office numbers proved to be a disappointment over the holiday weekend coming in at a little over $41 million.   Brad Bird’s live action, sci-fi adventure about a futuristic world where nothing is what it seems, was destined to start off the Disney summer season with a bang.  Instead the film which cost $190 million to make generated a loss for the studios.

The film which stars Britt Robertson, George Clooney, Raffey Cassidy, and Hugh Laurie takes us on a journey of discovery and adventure.  Casey (Britt Robertson) is chosen as the last one to receive a special pin which grants her access to Tomorrowland.  A land that I like to believe, Walt Disney would have approved and enjoyed being a part of.   As entertainment writer for Chipandco.com  I had the opportunity to review the movie and found it to be an exciting and fun filled story that gave me the opportunity to dream about a land where nothing is impossible.   Yet also opened my eyes to the ramifications, such a world might have if it existed.   I know the Disney audiences expects more and more magic from each new film released, but I think with Tomorrowland, Walt Disney Studios and Brad Bird were aiming at a different movie.  One that would make us stop and think what would our world be like if Tomorrowland existed?

Loretta Garcia, Entertainment Writer for Chipandco.com wants to know what you thought of Tomorrowland?  Perhaps the Disney Parks, 24 hour party during the holiday weekend affected the movie’s attendance?   If you have not seen Tomorrowland, grab your favorite Disney Addict and head for your nearest theatre and see it for yourself.

  1. This is sad to hear. I’m waiting until next week to go see it. It really wasn’t the best weekend for it to come out with the holiday and all. I’m excited to see it!
