Do you want to Eat with Mickey Mouse?

Do you want to Eat with Mickey Mouse?

What’s so special about Character Dining at Walt Disney World?  Why would you spend extra money to see the characters while dining, when the characters are in the park for free?   I’ll tell you why…time savings!

We love to go to Disney World in the summer.   Epcot has a great Character Spot, where you can see all of Disney’s main characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and others) all at one time.  The drawback?    Unless you’re willing to forego Soarin’ and Test Track first thing, the lines in the afternoon and evening can be 60-90 minutes!   If you have breakfast at Chef Mickey’s (at the Contemporary), you can have the characters all come to your table WHILE you are eating and save tons of time!  More time to have fun in the parks!   You have to eat anyway, right?

WDW Deluxe Resorts – Why They’re Worth The Cost

WDW Deluxe Resorts Why Theyre Worth The Cost

There are a ton of amazing Walt Disney World Resorts to choose from, so many that Disney had to divide them into categories, with Value Resorts being the cheapest with the smallest rooms and fewest ameneties, and the Moderate Resorts have larger rooms and more on site ameneties, and then there’s the Deluxe Resorts, which are the largest, fanciest Resorts with – you guessed it – the largest price tag too. So why would you pick a Deluxe Resort over WDW’s cheaper Resorts?

Well, here are some reasons:

WDW Deluxe Resorts Why Theyre Worth The Cost

More Space: The rooms at WDW Deluxe Resorts are biggest and most luxurious on WDW property – some of them are so beautiful that you may never want to leave (which would be ok, because room service and concierge service is also available at several of these resorts). All standard Deluxe rooms come with two queen or 1 king size bed, and ample sink and bathroom space for you and your family to spread out. Plus, there are plenty of different room choices as many Resorts offer Garden or Water views with balconies, and some also have suites available. If you’re traveling with your family, the larger rooms and suite options that the Deluxe Resorts offer would be perfect for you.

Owners Lockers: A permanent vacation for your stuff.

Owners Lockers: A permanent vacation for your stuff.

What can I say-we humans love stuff. And we have a lot of it. But as any scout will tell you, it’s good to be prepared. This brings me to the service up for review today-Owners Locker. Founders John & Brian really took a simple need and filled it brilliantly.

Central Orlando is one of the top vacation destinations in the world, and also one of the prime locations for vacation ownership properties. The folks over at Owners Locker realized that a lot of people, who frequent the Orlando area for vacationing, were schlepping a lot of stuff back and forth with them. And so Owners Locker was born.

This storage & delivery service is the solution to transporting things you regularly take with you on vacation. Instead of packing these items, and transporting them with you on the plane or in your car, you store them in their climate controlled storage facility and when you’re ready to visit your vacation resort, you simply schedule a delivery.

While this service has been a favorite among vacation property owners such as Disney Vacation Club members and other timeshare owners, I personally can see the value in investing in an Owners Locker even if you’re simply a frequent traveler/vacationer, to the area. With airline baggage fees getting crazier by the day, and more and more restrictions on what you can and cannot bring on a plane, an Owners Locker makes sense both financially and for the convenience factor alone. And if you’re anything like me-and pack for the end of the world-the service is both a sanity and back saver.

So what does it cost? Here is a break down of the fees & plans, as well as what you get for your buck:

Pack, Buy, or Ship-How to Get Your Items to Walt Disney World

Pack, Buy, or Ship How to Get Your Items to Walt Disney World

When packing for a Walt Disney World vacation, it’s a good idea to consider what to pack, buy,  or have shipped to your resort.  The super cool thing too is that when buying souvenirs at Disney, you can have them sent directly to your house-no hassle of packing them in your luggage for the car or plane ride home.  I want to share with you some items you might consider packing, buying, or shipping to Disney.

Pack:

  • Ponchos.  You’ll be sooo glad you did.  I learned from experience that Disney ponchos are expensive-and since we ended up throwing them away at the end of our trip, I wish I had packed our own.  Head to your local Dollar Tree, WalMart, or Target and pick up mid range quality ponchos.  You’ll be glad you did!  There’s a good chance it’ll rain at least once on your Disney vacation, so it’s not a bad idea to have these at hand.
  • Disposable Camera.  Our boys LOVE taking pictures, and thankfully have their own digital cameras now.  However, on past trips they’ve each gone through two or three disposable cameras.  These are high priced in the parks.  You can easily get a three pack at the store before you go for about the price you’d pay for one at Disney.
  • Bottled Water.  This can be a toss up.  If you’re driving, it’s way cheaper to buy some at home and bring it with you.
  • Sunscreen.  I know this is an obvious item to include in your luggage.  But, it can be expensive while you’re at Disney, and it’s something you don’t want to forget.  Also, you’ll probably end up using it the rest of the summer, so it’ll be a good investment.
