Tips and Details for the Disney’s Magical Express

Tips and Details for the Disney’s Magical Express

Getting from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World and back used to be quite a bit more complicated than it is today. Now we have the Disney’s Magical Express (DME) that will take guests to and from the airport to our home away from home. DME is free and incredibly simple to use, but you might need a little guidance on what to expect when you ride the Disney’s Magical Express…

Here is the basic sequence of events you follow in using DME:

  1. When you or your Authorized Disney Travel Agent make your reservations you just include your flight information, both arrival and departure. This sets the DME wheels in motion. If you are like me, you make flight reservations way in advance and flight numbers and times can change. If this happens you just call DME at exactly 45 days prior to your arrival (no earlier) and inform of the changes. They will make the adjustments before mailing your paperwork.

Battle of the Moderate Resorts Caribbean Beach Vs. Coronado Springs

Coronado SpringsBattle of the Moderate Resorts Caribbean Beach Vs. Coronado SpringsCaribbean Beach

When looking around Disney planning sites, one of the questions that pops up often is Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs.  On the surface, they seem similar.  I’ve stayed at both and can assure you they are very different.  Lets see how they fared in the battle of the Moderate Resorts.

In the Left Corner we have Coronado Springs:

  • Southwestern U.S./Mexican theme
  • Opened in 1997, renovated several times since
  • Consists of three themed areas  (Casitas, Ranchos, Cabanas), plus the Convention Center
  • One Main building El Centro, includes dining, shops, check-in, concierge and transportation
  • 22 acre lake Lago Dorado in center of resort, with connecting promenade
  • Convention center features 220,000 sq. feet of meeting space

In the Right Corner we have Caribbean Beach:

  • Caribbean Tropical/Island theme
  • Opened in 1988, renovated several times since
  • Consists of five islands-Martinique, Aruba,  Jamaica,Trinidad (North and South) and Barbados
  • Two Main Buildings.  Customs House for check-in, lobby concierge and transportation.  Old Port Royale houses dining, shopping, concierge and arcade
  • 45 acre lake called Barefoot Bay, with a center island picnic area Caribbean Cay

Disney World Quick Tips: Ten Tips for First Timers

Disney World Quick Tips: Ten Tips for First Timers

You’ve just booked your first trip to Walt Disney World! Yay! Congratulations! Feel the excitement rush through your veins! Bask in that after-booking glory. But…then what?

Well, don’t you fret, dearies! I have compiled a short list of my top ten tips for anyone visiting Disney World for the first, or fiftieth, time.

  1. Arrive early. When using Disney Transportation, you need to give yourself at least an hour to get to your destination. I strongly suggest arriving 20 minutes prior to park opening. You will never believe the amount of touring you can get done in the three hours before most everyone else gets out of bed and decides where they’re going for the day. Not only do you beat the crowd, but during the hotter months, you can beat the heat as well.
  2. Use both sides. When you’re standing in line for the turnstiles, at bag check or at a quick service restaurant, most people do not realize that there are lines on both the right and left side of the cast member.
  3. Gum. You cannot purchase gum at any of the four major theme parks. However, a very little known fact is the Clubhouse Shop at ESPN Wide World of Sports does carry a very limited amount of gum. If you’re in desperation, hop a bus to one of the All-Star resorts and head on over to the WWoS to satisfy that gum craving. Please be aware that this shop is not open 365 days a year. Check with the front desk of your hotel to determine whether it’s open or closed.
  4. Fastpasses. Fastpasses are free. Learn about them. Utilize them. A fastpass can save a substantial amount of time in peak season.
  5. Smartphones. If you have a smartphone, download Disney’s Mobile Magic app to keep an eye on wait times, have a map readily available and and review important information of attraction when you are inside a Disney Park.
  6. Transportation. Disney offers a variety of free transportation options. Yes, you read that correctly. Free. If you don’t have a car, you don’t have to rent one. Once on property, you have several choices of how to get around. There are buses, boats and monorails. What’s available depends on where you’re coming from and where you’re going. Inquire at the front desk if you’re reading this from your hotel. If you’re still at home, Chip & Company can help you by clicking here.
  7. Love Coca Cola. Open Happiness. There are no Pepsi products to be found while on Disney property. If you absolutely must have Pepsi, bring it from home. Don’t forget to try Club Cool!
  8. YouTubeIf you have little ones, you can pump up their excitement or gauge their timidness of some of the attractions by looking them up on YouTube.
  9. Park Hoppers.  If you plan on visiting more than one park per day, you must purchase a Park Hopper, you cannot use another day on your ticket to enter a second park on the same day.
  10. Times Guide/Park Maps. So you’re not really a planner, eh? No sweat, just be sure to grab a Park Map and a Times Guide (or download the app mentioned in #5) and quickly go over it to see what you’re interested in doing. Grab a nearby Cast Member and ask what the most popular attraction is and head there first to either ride or grab a Fastpass. From there, just begin working your way around the park and enjoy the spontaneity of your vacation!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are entire books devoted to helping you have the best Disney vacation possible. What tips can you offer someone visiting a Disney Park for the first time? Can you offer some insight on what to do/not do on a Disney vacation?

Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ Monorail to Debut This Spring at Walt Disney World Resort

Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ Monorail to Debut This Spring at Walt Disney World Resort

Great news Marvel Studios is  bringing Marvel’s “The Avengers” to Walt Disney World Resort this spring! Also expect to see Marvel Characters coming to the Disney Parks Soon.

Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ Monorail to Debut This Spring at Walt Disney World Resort

In Marvel’s “The Avengers,” super heroes team up to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security.

Similar to the “Tron”-themed wrap, one of our Magic Kingdom Park Monorails is currently undergoing a Marvel’s “The Avengers”-themed changeover to celebrate the May 4 opening of the film, which stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Soft Opening of Storybook Circus and New Buses Coming to Walt Disney World

Soft Opening of Storybook Circus and New Buses Coming to Walt Disney World

Here there guys and gals Anonymouse here.

Its been a busy week already and its only Tuesday! Yesterday the Magic Kingdom decided to open the doors early on the Storybook Circus. Opening the Great Goofini & Dumbo.

There is no reason to reinvent the wheel so I will post a link to one of my favorite Disney Videographers Jeff Lange who I think has some beautiful pictures and video available to check out.

Check them out here.

If that News/Gossip wasn’t enough it seems Disney has been testing out some new buses around the parks. These accordion style buses should help with the overcrowding that seems to occur every time I at Walt Disney World.

Check out this video to see them in action.

So far there is just one being tested. As far as how many seats being added or if they fit in the traditional parking space is not being released. What I would love to see is Disney running more vehicles off of Bio Diesel or other alternative fuels instead of stinky old diesel.

Anywho that is all the Disney Gossip I have right now. For my past Gossip articles be sure to check them out here.

Got any good gossip/rumors?  Please email me at AnonyMouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook Page
