White House Responds to ‘Star Wars’ Death Star Petition

In what I believe was a lighthearted moment the White House officially responded to a “We the People” petition to “secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.”
Though the White House has decided against going forward with the Death Star plan, and you can see the full version of why they oppose the idea HERE, the main points that came from the White House are:
- “The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850 quadrillion. We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.”
- “The Administration does not support blowing up planets.”
- “Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?”
The statement was prepared by Paul Shawcross, the chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget. The Death Star petition has over 34,000 signatures; which is well over the minimum of 25,000 needed to garner a response from the White House. The “We the People” program is an online petition program that allows citizens to have a voice with their suggestions.

Director Zack Snyder Developing a Standalone ‘Star Wars’ Film
It looks like the ‘Star Wars’ train is full steam ahead right now. While we’ve heard about the possible new TV series on ABC, and we know that LucasFilm is planning a new trilogy set after ‘Return of the Jedi’, but now it looks like they’re taking a page out of the Marvel book and developing films that are set outside of the new trilogy.
It looks like Zack Snyder, who is currently working with DC on his new Superman film, ‘Man of Steel’, has quietly developing the film over at LucasFilm for some time now, and the film is said to be inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s classic film ‘Seven Samurai’, and will follow a group of Jedi on a new mission.
ABC Considering ‘Star Wars’ TV Series
In October, word broke that Disney had acquired LucasFilm, to much shock to the industry and onlookers. Disney and LucasFilm have had a very good working relationship for a long time, so the two merging made sense. With the announcement, we also learned that we would be getting ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ in 2015. But there were many unknown variables to the deal, including what else we would be seeing now from the ‘Star Wars’ universe. One thing I kept wondering about was what had happened to the LucasFilm’s planned series, ‘Star Wars: Underworld‘, a series set between the two trilogies, dealing with much of the seedy underbelly of the universe, such as mobsters and bounty hunters, while leaving it open to have appearances from characters that we’d come to love from the films. Now it looks like the series could see a second life, thanks to ABC.

Pretty Little Liars returns to ABC Family this January
ABC FAMILY SETS PREMIERE DATES FOR ITS HIT RETURNING SERIES INCLUDING THE ONE HOUR SCRIPTED DRAMA “PRETTY LITTLE LIARS” PREMIERING IN JANUARY 2013
In all-new episodes of ABC Family’s hit original series “Pretty Little Liars,” returning on, Tuesday, January 8th, 8:00PM – 9:00PM ET/PT, Radley Sanitarium has given Mona a clean bill of health and she is headed back to the halls of Rosewood High, much to the Liars’ dismay. With their former tormentor now back in their everyday life, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer take very different views of the “new” Mona. Sure she made their lives a living hell, but is she really cured? And what other secrets could she be holding onto? It is up to Mona to prove to the Liars if she has changed or not. “Pretty Little Liars” won five Teen Choice Awards in 2012, including Choice TV Show Drama, Choice TV Actor Drama – Ian Harding, Choice TV Actress Drama – Lucy Hale, Choice Summer TV Star Female – Troian Bellisario, Choice TV Villain – Janel Parrish; in addition to the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Drama. According to SocialGuide, “Pretty Little Liars’” summer finale became the #1 “most social” TV series episode in history, breaking records with over 1.6 million comments. ABC Family will air a special “Pretty Little Liars” marathon on Tuesday, January 8th, from 11:00AM – 8:00PM ET/PT, leading up to that night’s premiere episode.
Pretty Little Liars returns on Monday Jan. 8. In the last episode we saw a train ride gone wrong courtesy of the one and only A- Team. As shocking secrets were revealed I’m sure this season will give us some answers as well as some more questions. As Mona returns to school in this new season we will see the girls carefully navigate their way around her which i can’t wait to see! Now that we know who Toby really is will he have good motive for being a part of the A-Team or is he really just that evil? Did he ever care for Spencer or Emily? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. Is Ezra to blame for some of the weird happenings in Rosewood? Is Lucas part of the A-Team? So many great question and so little answers but hey somethings got to keep you coming back for more and i know for a fact I definitely will be coming back because once you go to Rosewood you never leave EVER.
