Ever since Disney purchased LucasFilm and announced upcoming Star Wars films, Disney fans are beginning to consider Princess Leia as the newest Disney princess; and after Merida’s Coronation and 2013 Star Wars Weekends beginning this week, I got to thinking that Leia really does deserve to be one of those royal ladies.
Now I know what you’re thinking. Princess Leia doesn’t exactly generate thoughts about cute, woodland creatures, ball gowns, and sweet, romantic ballads; but Princess Leia is more like the Disney Princesses than you might think! In fact, I’m going to prove it in my Top 5 Ways Princess Leia is a Disney Princess.
5. Lost in the Forest-Have you ever noticed how most Disney Princesses always end up in the woods or a forest? How about the fact that adorable woodland creatures always find them and help them save the day? Consider Snow White, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty… Yeah, you get the idea. Princess Leia is no exception! In Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Leia gets lost in the Endor Forest after wrecking her speederbike. Soon after, the adorable forest Ewoks emerge to help her and later save the day. Point proven.

Actors and voice artists from the Star Wars film saga and Star Wars: The Clone Wars are ready to hop aboard Starspeeders and head to the park for the annual event. A trio of talent will appear each weekend, along with celebrity event hosts James Arnold Taylor and Ashley Eckstein.
Here’s a list of scheduled celebrities for this year’s Force-filled fan fest:
Weekend I (May 17–19)

Dee Bradley Baker (voice of Captain Rex – Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
Every single day, on the shore of Echo Lake inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can see Gertie in all her 1930′s “California Crazy” architectural goodness. She loves to pose for pictures and is very photogenic.
Unfortunately, she is only open seasonally for the business of selling ice cream and treats. Catching her on one of these days can be tricky. Today, however, we got lucky and stumbled on some May 2013 dates and hours of operation for Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction!
The following information is subject to change but comes from an extremely reliable “anonymouse” source:
Disney is excited to share that the Star Wars – D-Tech Me experience will be returning for Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year. The experience will be located inside Darth’s Mall, the highly themed merchandise destination located in the courtyard adjacent to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. You may recall they first introduced the Carbon-Freeze Me experience last year during Star Wars Weekends. They also introduced the experience at Celebration VI, the ultimate Star Wars fan event that was held last August in Orlando, Florida.
This year, they are bringing back the popular “cast yourself in Carbonite” option that was inspired by a scene from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. We are also delighted to offer a new option featuring the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire, the Stormtroopers.
