Top 10 attractions and things to do with a toddler at Epcot

Top 10 attractions and things to do with a toddler at Epcot

When you travel to Walt Disney World do you travel to Epcot with a toddler?  I’ve had many Disney first time guests ask me if Epcot is a waste of time with a toddler.  My answer is always no!  We took our youngest son to Epcot when he was 22 months old and again at 32 months old.  He loved Epcot!  We didn’t spend as much time strolling around the World Showcase as we usually do, but it gave us a great time for him to nap in the stroller.

Here are my top attractions and things to do with a toddler at Epcot, based on my son’s experiences:

What To Do Until World Showcase Opens

What To Do Until World Showcase Opens

When thinking of Epcot, many people generally think of World Showcase. With pavilions representing 11 countries, this area has a lot to offer from Norwegian boat rides to Japanese candy art and other cuisine from around the world. However, World Showcase usually opens a couple hours later than the rest of the park. So, what can you do to experience the fun of Epcot prior to the opening of World Showcase?

Future World at Epcot offers many great attractions which are available for you to experience before World Showcase opens. In Future World East, you will find attractions such as Spaceship Earth, Mission: Space, and Test Track.

The Spaceship Earth attraction is a ride actually located inside the park’s icon! This attraction provides an educational, yet entertaining look at the history of communication throughout the world.

Disney Photo Opportunities You Don’t Want to Miss

Disney Photo Opportunities You Dont Want to Miss

Photos at Disney are a MUST!  I mean, you’ve spent months planning this trip, packed everything carefully, and you don’t want to miss a minute of the magic.  Plus, there’s going to be an awesome scrapbook full of memories to put together when you get home, right?  Yes, if you take some of the great photo opportunities that Disney has to offer.  Aside from the obvious {we take a photo in front of every park icon}, there are some spots on Disney property that will give you unique photos to enjoy after your trip is over.

1.  Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom.  The closer you get to the castle, the cooler the picture.  One of my favorites is our family in front of the castle, with the statue of Walt and Mickey just in the distance.

2.  Inside Cinderella’s Castle.  There are beautiful mosaics, telling the story of Cinderella, in the castle.  These make for great backdrops for photos.  Or, photograph some without any people in the picture and use them for desktop wallpaper, scrapbook layouts, or to hang in your home.

What’s the Height Requirement at WDW?

Whats the Height Requirement at WDW?

Some of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World have a height requirement for the younger guests.  The reasons are for safety and age appropriateness.  While most of the attractions don’t have height minimums, the shortest you can be to experience these attractions is between 38 and 48 inches.  While many parents try to make their child taller by stuffing their shoes or buying thick soled shoes, I suggest you don’t.  The only one who will potentially be hurt is your child.

Here is a list of attractions by park and the height requirements:

Magic Kingdom

  • Goofy’s Barnstormer – 35″
  • Stitch’s Great Escape – 40″
  • Splash Mountain – 40″
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 40″
  • Space Mountain – 44″
  • Tomorrowland Indy Speedway – 54″ to drive your own car, 32″ to drive with a rider who is over 54″
