Disney Channel has ordered the music-driven pilot “Zombies and Cheerleaders.” Production on the pilot begins in December in consideration for a Disney Channel series to premiere in 2012.

The story follows Zed Necrodopolis, a typical high school student with one small caveat; he happens to be a zombie. Despite a high-tech wristwatch designed to curb any appetite he may have for his classmates, he and his zombie friends remain unpopular with the school’s most influential group, the pom-pom wielding cheerleaders. Never one to back down from a challenge, Zed sets out to improve zombie student body relations and win the attention of Addison, the cheerleading squad’s newest member.

“Zombies and Cheerleaders” is executive produced by Eric Weinberg (“Scrubs,” “Death Valley”) and was written by Joseph Raso and David Light who also serve as co-executive producers. Todd Strauss Schulson (“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas”) will direct the pilot.

Nearly 30,000 dance videos were submitted and now six talented finalists age 10-16 have been selected to showcase their dance moves for millions of viewers and celebrity judges, Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), recording artist Sean Kingston and “Shake It Up” choreographer Rosero McCoy, in Disney Channel‘s first-ever talent competition exclusively for kids and tweens, “Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off – ‘Shake It Up’ Edition,” premiering FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14 (8:30 p.m.)(8:ET/PT).

The grand prize is a “Spotlight Dance” on an upcoming episode of “Shake It Up,” which through its first 21 original episodes, is pacing to be cable TV’s #1 series of all time among Tweens 9-14. The dance off competition telecast will be hosted by Debby Ryan (Disney Channel’s “Jessie”), Roshon Fegan and R. Brandon Johnson (both of “Shake It Up”), with special guest appearances by Bella Thorne and Zendaya (both of “Shake It Up”).

The winning dancer or dance team will be determined by online and text votes and revealed during the results show SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16 (8:30 p.m.)(8:ET/PT), a telecast highlighted by a musical performance from China Anne McClain (“A.N.T. Farm”). Following the October 14 telecast, viewers will have two hours to vote for their favorite finalist at www.DisneyChannel.com/MakeYourMark , or by texting their vote to DISNEY following the Ultimate Dance Off. Viewers can vote up to five times online and five times by text.

For the Ultimate Dance Off performance, the six finalists will work with some of the entertainment industry’s top choreographers: Nick Florez (Katy Perry videos and concert tours), Fatima Robinson (Black Eyed Peas choreographer and creative director), Gil Duldulao (Janet Jackson’s choreographer), Jimaica Craft (Ne-Yo’s videos), Ivan Koumaev (Jason Derulo’s choreographer) and Marty Kudelka (Joe Jonas’s choreographer).

The finalists include 12-year-old Arjang from California; 12-year-old Jade from Illinois; 13-year-old Amir from Virginia; 13-year-old Christine and 15-year-old June Ann from New Jersey; 16-year-old Casey from Washington and 16-year-old Samantha from California; and AKsquared – 12-year-old Arielle, 12-year-old Alyssa, 14-year-old Kailey and 10-year-old Kalani from Arizona.

FIVE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS FEATURING “SHAKE IT UP” CHOREOGRAPHER INCLUDED ON DVD

The Disney Channel original series “Shake It Up” has gotten fans moving and shaking ever since premiering last year. Now, Walt Disney Records is set to release Shake It Up: Break It Down CD + DVD, a collection of upbeat dance songs from the series, including the show’s theme song, “Shake It Up,” performed by Hollywood Records’ artist Selena Gomez.  The 14-track collection also includes the singing debut of “Shake It Up” stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya, and many more.

To help fans learn the signature “Shake It Up” dance moves, a DVD featuring a full hour of dance instructions through five routines (“School’s Out,” “Watch Me,” “Breakout,” “Not Too Young” and “Shake It Up”) taught by “Shake It Up” choreographer Rosero McCoy is also included. The DVD was helmed by Andrea Ambandos who has directed and produced, through her company Dragonfly Productions, many popular workout video series including “10 Minute Solution,” Jillian Michaels titles, yoga workouts and dance workouts featuring Julianne Hough and the Pussycat Dolls. The CD+DVD combo pack hits stores July 12, while the single and video “Watch Me,” featuring Zendaya and Bella, is available now at iTunes and other digital retailers. The music video was directed by Marc Klasfeld, whose credits include videos for Katy Perry (“Last Friday Night”) and Nelly (“Move That Body”).

Since its 2010 premiere, “Shake It Up” has ranked as TV’s No. 1 series among kids age 6-11 and tweens. The series chronicles the adventures of best friends CeCe (Bella Thorne) and Rocky (Zendaya), whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realized when they land roles as background dancers on the most popular teen dance show, “Shake It Up, Chicago!”   From the beginning, music and dance have been the keys to the show’s success, and with the new Walt Disney Records combo pack, fans can now take home the music as well as learn the moves.

Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez, Debby Ryan and Mitchel Musso surprise their biggest fans in the premiere episode of “PrankStars,” a hidden camera series where unsuspecting tweens and teens are set up by family members and come face to face with their favorite celebrities in unpredictable and humorous situations.

Premiering FRIDAY, JULY 15 (8:00 – 8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel, the reality series is hosted by Mitchel Musso (“Pair of Kings,” “Phineas and Ferb”), who directs the pranks live from a covert mobile command center.

New episodes will premiere every month featuring a roster of new stars.

In the premiere episode featuring three pranks, 14-year-old Mary is put to the test when she is paired up with Selena Gomez, disguised as a typical teenager, to learn a jingle during an audition for a fake bubble gum commercial. The hilarity continues as Debby Ryan recruits her No. 1 fan, 14-year-old Albany, to model for her upcoming fashion show, but Albany’s loyalties are tested when she is asked to fire Debby. When Mitchel Musso’s real-life best friend does not show up for an interview at a restaurant, he recruits unsuspecting patron, 15-year-old Luke, to step in for the hardest role of his life.

“PrankStars” is executive-produced by Barry Poznick (“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”), John Stevens (“Lingo”), Charles Steenveld (“Family Game Night”) and Rick de Oliveira (“All-Star Celebrity Treasure Hunt”). Musso co-wrote and performs the theme song. The reality series is a production of ZOO Productions. It carries a TV-G parental guideline.

Disney Channel and Disney XD salute summer with two nights of premieres dedicated to soaring temperatures and fun in the sun. On Sunday, JuLY 24 (7:30 – 9:00 p.m., ET/PT), Disney Channel heads to the shores for a special “Sizzlin’ Summer Sunday” with new beach-themed episodes of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” “Shake It Up” and “Good Luck Charlie.” On Monday, JuLY 25 (7:30 – 9:30 p.m., ET/PT), a heat wave hits Disney XD for a “Sizzlin’ Summer Monday” featuring new episodes of “Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil,” “Pair of Kings,” “Kickin’ It” and “Zeke and Luther.”

On Sunday, July 3 (7:15 p.m., ET/PT.), Disney XD will premiere the music video for its summer anthem, ”We Burnin’ Up,” co-written by Adam Hicks (“Zeke and Luther,” “Lemonade Mouth”) and performed by Hicks and Chris Brochu (“Lemonade Mouth”). The music video was directed by James Larese of Syndrome, whose credits include music videos for Alicia Keys and Ke$ha.

Beginning Tuesday, July 12, fans can escape the heat with DisneyXD.com‘s first multi-series online game, “Summer Balloon Battle Royale.” Players compete as popular XD personas Perry (“Phineas and Ferb”), Kick (“Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil,”), Jack (“Kickin’ It”), Brady (“Pair of Kings”) or Zeke (“Zeke and Luther”) to try and pop all the opponents’ balloons and remain the last one standing. Players must pass all five different levels relating to the hit series — Agent P’s Lair, Mellowbrook Park, Bobbi Wasabi Dojo, Island Paradise and Riot Skate Park.

The trio is shocked when Alex’s fortune tells her to say goodbye to her life. In order to reverse the misfortune, Zelzar the fortune teller convinces Alex to let him out to spend a day at the beach.

8:00 p.m. – “Shake It Up”

“Break It Up” – CeCe, Rocky, Flynn, Deuce and Ty head to Lake Whitehead for a week-long summer vacation. CeCe tries to get Rocky to enjoy her summer break, and during a game of truth or dare, Rocky jumps into the lake and winds up in the hospital with an injured foot, leaving the gang wondering if she’ll ever be able to dance again. Meanwhile, Gunther and Tinka’s family coincidentally rent a house next door and try to help Flynn overcome his fear of the Lake Monster.

8:30 p.m. – “Good Luck Charlie”

“Sun Show, Part 1″ – In the first installment of a two-part new episode, it’s Bob and Amy’s 20^th wedding anniversary, and to everyone’s surprise, the usually stingy Bob surprises the entire family with a trip to Hawaii. Unbeknownst to them, the trip is complimentary if Bob attends a day-long seminar as part of a time share presentation. Upon arrival, Teddy wants to get surfing lessons from the cute instructor Kai (Boo Boo Stewart), and PJ and Gabe go on a helicopter ride with a scarily unpredictable pilot. Meanwhile, Amy ignores the advice of a local and is cursed when she steps on forbidden sacred ground, as Bob keeps trying to dodge the seminar.

Directly following the premiere on-air, “Sun Show, Part 2,” the continuation of the two-part “Good Luck Charlie” episode, will become available on Disneychannel.com/Charlie.

“An Ice Girl For Boomer” – During a heat wave, Brady and Boomer discover an ice cave in the jungle. With the soaring temperatures, Brady returns to the cave to cool off and discovers a beautiful cave girl who has thawed out, and decides to transform her into Boomer’s date for the upcoming Luau. But when Boomer’s ‘girlfriend,’ Awesome Dawson from Chicago, arrives in Kinkow for the Luau, Boomer and Brady must figure out how to get rid of his jealous cave date.

“Wax On, Wax Off” – As a reward for winning the Bobby Wasabi Inter-Dojo Tournament, Bobby sends over a life-sized wax statue of himself. But when a heat wave hits the town, the gang must do everything they can to prevent the statue from melting. Meanwhile, Kim and Milton turn the mall courtyard into a beach and start charging for chairs and sunscreen.

9:00 p.m. — “Zeke and Luther”

“Ice Heist, Baby” – When a mega heat wave hits Gilroy, Zeke and Luther set off for a bag of ice for Luther’s Nana and come face-to-face with Gilroy’s ‘Godfather’ of ice, Mr. Montoya. Refusing to pay his inflated prices, the boys retaliate by stacking hundreds of air conditioners right in front of Montoya’s warehouse. But when the wall comes crashing down, so do Zeke and Luther’s dreams of cooling off Gilroy, and the bros must find another way to stop Mr. Montoya’s ice monopoly.

As Buzz Lightyear Might Say, “To Disney Parks, and Beyond!”

In addition to the parade fun at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, expert travel correspondent Samantha Brown gives viewers a taste of what’s coming soon around the globe. First, she checks in from Papenburg, Germany, with an exclusive preview of the Disney Dream, the newest Disney Cruise Line ship. The Disney Dream will launch in January 2011 from Port Canaveral, Fla. She also gives viewers a taste of the all-new Disney Destination, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai′i. The new resort opens Aug. 29, 2011.

What Time Does It Air?

The 27th annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” airs Christmas Day on ABC-TV. Viewers are also asked to check their local listings and go online to http://DisneyParksChristmasDayParade.com for times and more information about the parade telecast.

The show is scheduled to air at the following times:

The Parade Magic Continues on Radio Disney

Radio Disney will air a one-hour special on SATURDAY, DEC. 25 (9 a.m., ET/6 a.m., PT and 3 p.m., ET/Noon, PT) hosted by on-air personalities Ernie D and Jake Whetter. The “2010 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade Special on Radio Disney” will feature behind-the-scenes interviews and sneak previews of performances by stars of the parade including Mariah Carey, Selena Gomez, Sean Kingston and Debby Ryan.

The countdown to the 2010 “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” on ABC-TV has begun!   Disney Online launched today a dedicated online destination on Disney.com (disney.com/christmasparade) for the annual holiday special, featuring behind-the-scenes and performance videos of Selena Gomez and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, as well as interviews with Debby Ryan, Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon and Ryan Seacrest.  The site also includes television tune-in information, the parade telecast schedule, a Disney-themed holiday gift guide and great ideas for holiday recipes and crafts the whole family can enjoy.

Superintendents registered their schools for the challenge and the chance to win new gym equipment (valued at $500) for a school in their district.

Because of this partnership, nearly 500,000 students are participating in the “Get Active Get Fit!” School Challenge across the country. States include: California, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Upstate New York, Virginia, and Wisconsin. For Radio Disney, the network’s involvement in the program demonstrates its commitment to inspiring healthier lifestyles for kids and families supporting Disney’s Magic of Healthy Living effort.

Selena Gomez and The Scene will hold a private concert on Tuesday, October 26 at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

In addition, Demi Lovato who has released chart-topping solo albums, will assist players by providing various ways to be a better performer. This will include basic exercises from breathing and pitch, to more advanced exercises such as learning how to harmonize in a duet.

The game launches on October 12^th on the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3!

Disney Channel will present the world premiere of Selena Gomez & The Scene’s music video, “A Year Without Rain,” from their upcoming album of the same title, on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 (10:15 p.m., ET/PT), following the premiere of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” and a preview of the new animated comedy series “Fish Hooks.” The single will also debut on Radio Disney and will be available as a digital single and digital video that same day.

The song was written by Toby Gad (“Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”) and Linda Robbins, and the music video was directed by Chris Dooley, who directed Gomez’s other music videos “Falling Down” and “Naturally,” as well as videos for Scissor Sisters, Marié Digby and David Bowie.

The music video was shot on location in Lucerne Valley, California.

“A Year Without Rain” releases worldwide Tuesday, September 21 on Hollywood Records. The song “Round & Round” from the album is the No. 1 song on Radio Disney. Gomez’s first album, “Kiss & Tell,” debuted in the Billboard Top 10 and is now Gold certified. Its big hit, “Naturally,” is Platinum certified.

myRMX and Hollywood Records have released a myRMX App for Selena Gomez and The Scene for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Ms. Gomez, Disney star and teen celebrity, is putting her fans first by giving them the opportunity to re-imagine her music with myRMX and share their creations with friends and the social web.
