I’m Going to California Adventure. Now what do I do?
I always save California Adventure for Day 2. I mean, who doesn’t? Disneyland is the original and still the best place to start, and end… Yeah okay, you caught me. I always do a 3 (or more) day park hopper for Disneyland. This way I do a full day at each park and split the 3rd day between the two.
So you’ve gone to Disneyland, you’ve listened to my sage advice and riden all the best rides, seen the best shows, and all that Disneyland has to offer. And of course you ate at Blue Bayou, right? right? I mean, I kinda stressed it in that one posting didn’t I?
So here you are at California Adventure… Now What? What do you do first? Well two things, hopefully you read the posting on Radiator Springs Racers so you already knew to get those FastPasses before the park even opened. Second thing you want to do is get your FastPass to World Of Color, if you don’t already have a dining package. Don’t worry World Of Color FastPasses don’t keep you from getting any other ones. It’s simply to help control the crowd by assigning sections.

From Cars Land to Cruise Ships: Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Recognized with Prestigious Awards
Several recent honors have capped an incredible year for us on land and at sea at Disney Parks. Disney takes pride in exceeding our guests’ expectations, and it’s always rewarding to see their peers, the industry and even consumers acknowledge of their reputation as a constant innovator through these awards.
Here’s a run-down:
THEA Awards — The Themed Entertainment Association is an international non-profit, and their annual awards are considered among the most prestigious industry honors, recognizing educational, historical and entertainment projects. Disney California Adventure was a big winner, as Cars Land was named best new theme park land, while Radiator Springs Racers and Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge were tops in the new attraction and new theme park restaurant categories, respectively. Also recognized was our new resort in Hawai‘i, Aulani, which was named top themed hotel resort.
IAAPA Brass Ring Awards — “Disney Dreams!” at Disneyland Paris was one of several honors won at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Brass Ring Awards, which recognize contributions from hundreds of industry finalists. Additionally, “Glow with the Show” Mickey Mouse Ears received a Judges Choice Award in the retail category, while the Brass Ring Award for Innovative Training Program was awarded to the Disneyland Resort’s Cast Showcase, which prepared and educated cast members for the relaunch of Disney California Adventure.
Disney Cruise Line received several awards this year. Readers of top travel publications like Porthole Cruise Magazine and Conde Nast Traveler held annual Readers Choice surveys, placing it first in several categories, including top cruise line (large ship category), best spa facilities, best children’s programs and most family-oriented cruise line. Disney Cruise Line also took top honors in Travel + Leisure Magazine’s World’s Best Awards, and industry news organization Seatrade awarded Disney Cruise Line its 2012 Environmental Initiative Award for minimizing the impact on the environment.
And finally, Amusement Business, a publication that covers amusement park news and trends, named Disney California Adventure “2012 Park of the Year.” You can read more about the honor on the Disney Parks Blog.
Congratulations to all of the cast members and employees around the world who bring our entertainment experiences to life!

Disneyland Resort to Feature Cars Land-Inspired Float in the 124th Rose Parade
Disney is bringing the excitement of the newly expanded Disney California Adventure park to Pasadena, Calif., with a Cars Land-inspired float in the 124th Rose Parade on January 1, 2013! This year’s parade theme is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” – which is perfect for a story like “Cars,” in which the journey is as much a part of the experience as the destination.
The float will feature floral representations of the stars of “Cars” – like Lightning McQueen, Sally, Luigi and Guido – along with familiar sights from the new Cars Land, including Ornament Valley, Radiator Springs Racers, the Cozy Cone Motel and more.
Our favorite thing about Tournament of Roses Parade floats are all the moving pieces, and this float will have plenty! Their Cars Land float will come to life with a bouncing tire from Luigi’s Flying Tires, a bubbling “Original Radiator Spring,” real waterfalls and smoke-puffing baby tractors – you have to tune in to the parade to see all the amazing features for yourself!
