Ty Burrell Set to Star in ‘The Muppets’ Sequel
It looks like ‘The Muppets‘ sequel has finally found its star to takeover for Jason Segal in the new film. Segal isn’t set to reprise his role as Gary in the sequel to the 2011 film, but Walt Disney Studios has found another great comedic actor to take his place. Ty Burrell, who many will recognize as Phil from ABC’s hit comedy ‘Modern Family’, is set to star in the film as an Interpol Inspector in the film, but at the time we don’t know the characters name. In fact, very little is known about the film at this time, other than the fact that the film will follow the Muppets, including the new edition Walter, as the travel through Europe on some sort of caper. Burrell is taking over for Christoph Waltz, who had to unfortunately bow out of the role. The film is set to shoot in London next year, with a script by Nicholas Stoller, who wrote the first film with Segal, and returning director James Bobin.
I’m a huge fan of Ty Burrell, and think his work on ‘Modern Family’ is excellent, so I’m very excited to see him join the cast of the new film. I was very sad to see that Waltz had to drop out, but Burrell is more than capable of filling his shoes. ‘The Muppets’ was one of my favorite films of last year, so I definitely can’t wait for the sequel, and I really hope it lives up to the first one. ‘The Muppets’ sequel is currently untitled and doesn’t have a release date yet, but I’d expect winter 2013 or 2014.

Muppet News Flash – Muppets working out details for sequel movie
Couple of developments coming out of Muppet world about the upcoming sequel that is still unnamed which is due to start filming in January. First, they have confirmed that they will be filming some around London. Beginning in January 2013 and April 2013 they will be doing location work in London for this film that is rumored to set place in Europe only.
Another little tidbit is that Bret McKenzie, who won an Oscar for his song “Man or Muppet” that was in the last Muppet film titled “The Muppets” is returning to write new songs for the film.
Regarding some of the actors, Jason Segel is saying he won’t be in this film, though there is talk of a cameo appearance, for the co-writer and executive producer of “The Muppets” film. On that note the sequel is set to introduce new Muppets and Oscar Winner, Christopher Waltz is playing the villain as an Interpol Agent in the new film.
The previous film “The Muppets” was received with huge accolades and so even though the sequel has some big shoes to fill it seems the plans are in place for another Muppets hit. Who wants to see the new Muppets movie? Who is your favorite Muppet? I like Beaker myself!

The Muppet Christmas Carol 20th Anniversary Special Edition Blu-ray Review
The Classic Christmas Tale. With A Muppets Twist. It’s Not Easy Being Scrooge Special Edition
On November 6, 2012, the Charles Dickens-inspired classic holiday story “The Muppet Christmas Carol,” will ring in its 20th anniversary with the Blu-ray™ debut of this family favorite.
And now, a word from Gonzo: Greetings, holiday movie fans and lovers of culture, I am Gonzo … or perhaps better known to fans of this classic motion picture as literary legend Charles Dickens. Are you ready to laugh, cry, sing, frolic, cavort and enjoy yourself beyond belief!? Well, you’re in luck, because this 20th Anniversary Edition of Disney’s “The Muppet Christmas Carol” is guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit that will stay with you forever—or at least until your Aunt Edna starts complaining that nobody is eating the fruitcake she brought … again!
This movie is the classic tale of Scrooge from a Christmas Carol but with a muppet twist. The movie is adorable it brings together my 2 favorite things Disney and The Muppets. You can’t go wrong with a combination like that. In this movie you will see the classic tale of Scrooge as told be Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat so you know there is some humor thrown in. I have to say my new favorite Muppet is Rizzo the Rat, probably because him and I share the same accent. This will definitely be a new Christmas tradition for my daughter and I.
The Special effects in this movie are amazing, considering this movie was done 20 years ago it is just incredible. When you see the ghost sequence you will see what I am talking about. The Muppets were always ahead of their time just like Disney, so they are a natural team.
Of course I have to talk about the bonus features. Disney Blu-ray has some of the best bonus features I have seen.
The Muppets Invade Disney
When Walt Disney Pictures released “The Muppets” last Thanksgiving, there were lots of reasons for fans like us to celebrate. After all, most of us have watched “The Muppet Show” for decades, have seen the movies and experienced the marvelous madness of Muppet*Vision 3-D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (which is as much a loving tribute to the original TV show as the recent movie).
Now that “The Muppets” is available on Blu-ray and DVD, we’ve gained one more reason to cheer: last month, the Academy Award for Best Song was awarded to “Man or Muppet” from Walt Disney Pictures’ “The Muppets.” And if you haven’t been keeping a list, this was the very first Oscar awarded to a Muppet project, ever!
It was also the first Oscar for New Zealand-born lyricist/composer Bret McKenzie, who found it an amazing thrill to be part of a distinguished Muppet music legacy, which has earned numerous Grammy and Gold Record awards over the decades. “I wanted to make sure the songs sounded like Muppet songs,” he told us. “So I took on the job of producing them, to make them feel cohesive and to help the film itself hold together sonically.”
You can hear “Man or Muppet” and the other great songs in the new multi-disc “Wocka Wocka” Edition that combines a Blu-ray, DVD, movie download and soundtrack album download in one package.
