Disney’s Armed Forces Salute allows for Continued Special Vacations
On Wednesday, August 8th, Disney released the details of the renewed Armed Forces Salute for 2012-2013. This “Salute” offers Military members and their families admission tickets and resort rooms at a discounted price. Due to the much appreciated discount, many Military members and their families are able to experience a special and memorable vacation that they otherwise may not be able to afford.
I’ve asked Steve Bell, creator and owner of the Military Disney Tips website, to share a little more about what the Disney Armed Forces Salute means to these Military members.
Q: Besides the discount that Military families receive, what is it that truly makes the Disney Armed Forces Salute so special? What does it mean to families that are able to utilize it?
Steve: The discounts extended to military families by Disney are indeed fantastic! Our military members lead very busy lives these days. Most deploy to combat zones multiple times over a several year period, spending six to 12 months away from their family. Being in a combat zone is stressful enough on it’s own, but the time away from the spouse and children adds even more for both the military member and their family.
Disney’s Armed Forces Salute allows for special vacations before, after, or on a mid year break in a deployment. Many military members, especially the lower ranking members, would never be able to afford to do this without these discounts.
Discounts: Military Rates Extended; AP Rates For Summer 2011
Yesterday, Disney announced that they’re extending military discounts through the end of September 2012. If you are an active-duty or retired military member, you qualify for discounts up to 40% off rooms and for deeply discounted tickets. See your travel agent or call Disney directly.
Be careful with this discount–you’ll need to ask for it, as with all discounts. In my experience, it’s the one that often falls through the cracks because it’s not all that well publicized. Make sure you tell your travel agent or the cast member you speak to at Disney reservations that you qualify.
Next, summer rates for annual passholders were announced this morning:

* Save 15% on Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campsites
* Save 20% at Disney’s Value and Moderate Resorts
* Save 25% at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Polynesian Resort
* Save 30% at Deluxe (excluding Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Polynesian Resort)
* Save 35% at Disney Deluxe Villa Resort
Tiered Resort Savings: (June 15 – August 13, 2011):
* Save 15% on Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campsites
* Save 20% at Disney’s Value and Moderate Resorts
* Save 30% at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Polynesian Resort
* Save 35% at Deluxe (excluding Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Polynesian Resort)
* Save 35% at Disney Deluxe Villa Resort

Disney’s Armed Forces Salute 2009
Saluting our men and women of the armed forces this holiday Disney is offering a discount for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets.
Adults 10 and Up: $36.40 plus tax
Children 3-9: $32.20 plus tax
Discounted tickets for Active and Retired U.S. Military, including Coast Guard and active National Guard or Reservists. Can purchase up to 5 additional tickets for family or friends. ID requirements are the same as the 5-day Disney’s Armed Forces Salute tickets.
NOT available at Military Bases or Shades of Green. Purchase does not specifically have to be day of event (i.e. can purchase Dec 3rd tickets on Dec 2nd), but the purchase must and can only be made at Guest Relations/Ticket Counters at the parks.
