Disney Food Blog Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays 2012 Review
AJ Wolfe, author of Disney Food Blog has put together a spectacular guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays. This e-book is jam-packed with useful information to anyone visiting the parks during holiday season which spans from early November to early January.
Readers will get excellent insight on where to eat holiday meals, what to expect for prices, and where to find unique holiday inspired treats. But in true Wolfe fashion the buck does not stop there!
You will also be treated to information on special holiday happening such as the candlelight processional and hints on where you can find the jolly old elf himself throughout the world.
I have frequented the parks during many holiday seasons, but reading this guide prior to my trip led me to some new discoveries. For example, I had never attended the Christmas Market in the Germany Pavilion and was very happy to learn that they served Gluhwein, a hot mulled wine. I had a good friend from Austria who used to serve this at Christmas each year and after she moved home I did not think I would get this treat again.
Wolfe takes the reader through each park, pointing out special and seasonal menu items and highlighting things that should not be missed. She draws attention to the little details in the parks that are unique to the holiday season, which I think is wonderful. She even offers suggestions for holiday dining without reservations.
Beyond the parks, she also takes us on a virtual resort hop, pointing out where and what to eat at each WDW hotel. She also takes the reader through the intricate displays at each resort; pointing out details that the normal visitor may miss.
Special events, parades, and shows are also covered and Wolfe is helpful to point out limited time happenings and where you will find holiday treats during events such as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. She also gives details on lesser known activities such as religious services, gingerbread decorating demos, golf cart parades, and ornament making!
All in all, this guide leaves no stone unturned and is one of the most important holiday resources you can find for the Walt Disney World Resort. Hats off to AJ Wolfe for putting together this must have book!

Spending Christmas Day at Walt Disney World
Spending Christmas Day at Walt Disney World? For many this is a once in a lifetime trip, for others a family tradition. Either way, if you find yourself at Disney World at Christmas, here are a few tips for events and dining.
The Magic Kingdom is definitely the place to be on Christmas. Prior to the holidays you can enjoy Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. However on Christmas Day, the park is one big party. Be forewarned, the crowd level at this park on Christmas Eve and Day is the highest all year. Often the park will be closed within hours of opening because they are at capacity. If you brave the crowds, you will be rewarded with amazing holiday decorations and atmosphere. The parades are Christmas themed as are the fireworks. Cinderella’s castle is covered with a layer of LED snow and icicles. While all restaurants are open for Christmas, many with holiday features, the following offer a special Christmas meal (don’t forget your reservations):
- Liberty Tree Tavern-Family Style Lunch and Dinner
- Tony’s Town Square Restaurant-A la Carte Dinner
- Diamond Horseshoe Saloon-Counter Service Lunch and Family Style Dinner
