Disney World and Anxiety
Many people suffer daily with Anxiety. It can be a struggle for most people to enjoy everyday life without worrying what will trigger the next panic attack. Today I want to help you Survive Anxiety while visiting Disney World.
I have a degree in Psychology and my daughter has anxiety. This has been a lifelong struggle for her, hopefully some of our experiences can help you to maximize your fun at Disney and keep the panic attacks to a minimum.
Anxiety is a very common thing that most people with deal with from time to time, but for some it is a daily struggle. Anxiety can be a stand-alone problem or it can accompany other disorders like A.D.H.D. Either way it can be controlled, here are some helpful hints.
Use Your Packing Smarts for more Potato Head Parts!
Who’s been to Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney? Sometimes I think adults have more fun in that store than kids do! For just $20 (+ tax) you can pack a box full of Mr. Potato Head parts. This is a great (and economical) souvenir!
Here’s a few helpful hints on how to get the most bang for your buck:
Buy your Potato Head body at home. If you have a Mr. Potato Head already, great! Bring him with you, in your suitcase, so that you can try out all of the new parts you purchase. If you’re able to, purchase a Mr. Potato Head before leaving for Disney World. Finally, keep your eyes open at garage sales – I once found a Mr. Potato Head body for 25 cents! Having a potato body already, allows you to fill your box with more parts.
Movie Review-Disney’s Home on the Range on Blu Ray Combo Pack
July 3rd, 2012, Disney released Home on the Range on DVD/Blu Ray Combo Pack. This is one of the lesser known, yet one of our family’s favorite, Disney movies. Maggie, played by Roseanne Barr, is sent off to live at Patch of Heaven dairy farm, filled with animals who get along with each other. She’s a little on the rough side-which makes Roseanne Barr the perfect actress for this role. The other two dairy cows, Mrs. Caloway and Grace, eventually accept Maggie for her rough edges. The three of them, along with Buck the horse begin working together to save Patch of Heaven from the bounty hunters. Pearl, the owner of Patch of Heaven needs to choose a cow to sell in order to pay her rent to Alameda Slim. She can’t decide! To help save the farm, Maggie, Mrs. Caloway, Grace, and Buck set off to town. This comes with its own challenges! Along the way, Buck has a fantasy that he is a karate kicking stallion who always steps in to save the day. The cows get caught up in Alameda Slim‘s yodeling call, and before we know it they’re back on track to town again.
This movie is super cute. The music is fun, and our favorite scene is when Alameda Slim is trying to yodel the cows to come to him. There is some good adult-tongue in cheek-comedy to keep the grown ups entertained. I wouldn’t say it’s one of Disney’s more “magical”, fairly talish films. But overall, it’s a fun movie to watch. The special features add some fun on the Blu Ray video. For example, you can enter the “Joke Corral” and hear such goodies as “What did the Cheddar say to the Swiss?” ”Who cut the cheese?!”. Or, even better, “What do you call a cow with no milk?” ”A Milk Dud!” Ha ha!
ABC’s “GCB” Complete Series DVD Review
From Darren Star, creator of ‘Sex And The City,’ and Robert Harling, writer of ‘Steel Magnolias,’ comes a deliciously fun, wicked new drama series to DVD. GCB: The Complete First Season shows that a girl can go home again…but only if she’s ready to face the sins of her past.
Back in high school, original mean girl Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb) mercilessly tormented her less attractive classmates. Twenty years later, after her hubby is busted for a Ponzi scheme – and meets his maker in a particularly scandalous way – a disgraced Amanda is back in Dallas to start life anew under her mother’s (Annie Potts) palatial roof.
But will the good women of her hometown welcome her with open arms or dole out some kick-ass karmic payback? Let’s just say, hell hath no fury like the cosmetically enhanced!
If you like a hilarious show which crosses the likes of Steel Magnolias with Desperate Housewives, then you will love this series. I found myself laughing out loud while watching it. This show mixes the stereotypical Texas lifestyle, Christianity, sex, sass and revenge into a hilarious adventure. Being a born and bred Texan, this really isn’t Texas life but the exaggeration is so much fun. It is certainly not a reality show, but then neither are ‘reality shows.’
The GCB wasn’t renewed for a second season, and I think that is a shame. The acting alone by Bibb, Chenoweth, Potts, and the rest of the talented cast was great. You never know what to expect with this group and I absolutely loved the scene where Chenoweth sneaks into her neighbor’s house through the doggy door.
Luckily, you can now buy GCB: The Complete First Season on a 3-disc DVD set which also includes bonus materials with everything from the Texas big hair and makeup makeovers to tours of the real homes in Dallas used for inspiration, to bloopers that are a real gas. Released on June 12, 2012, you can now purchase a copy to add to your library.
