Coming November 18th 2012 “Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion,” Reality is What You Paint of It. The game offers a special drawing and painting function that allows players to create rough versions of objects that magically transform into classic Disney-style 2D illustrations. Utilizing the game’s unparalleled dual screen integration, players then move their creations to the top screen where they are further transformed into full-color, fully-rendered 3D visuals.
Paying tribute to the classic Sega Genesis title “Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse,” “Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion” focuses on the fabled Castle of Illusion, which has fallen into Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions – and now forgotten video games. The evil witch Mizrabel, villainess from the classic “Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse,” finds herself an unwilling inhabitant of Wasteland, and unleashes a plot to escape using the Castle of Illusion to imprison and drain the cartoon essence from currently famous Toons. Players will take on the role of Mickey Mouse as he utilizes his magical brush to wield paint and thinner to confront Mizrabel and save the Toons.!!
“The original ‘Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse’ changed the face of video gaming by allowing players to play as Mickey Mouse in a side-scrolling adventure full of dynamic environments,” said Warren Spector, vice president and creative director, Junction Point. “We’re honored to be able to pay tribute to this classic video game by creating a title that truly takes advantage of the unique capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS, putting the magic of Disney and the historic Castle of Illusion in the palm of your hands.”

Last week, in what is being termed restructuring has more than 50 employees at Disney Interactive lost their jobs. As part of the online unit’s future plans to remain competitive in their industry, the action was deemed necessary. In January 2011, the division laid off approximately 200 employees, making this week’s round of layoffs the second in less than two years. The first round was called “a reorganization”.
The online unit is responsible for Disney.com and some other smaller properties, such as the Moms and Family property Babble, which was acquired by Disney last November, among others. These layoffs are only affecting the online unit at Disney Interactive. The Games group which is as well part of Disney Interactive, which develops video games like the popular Disney Epic Mickey franchise was not affected.
Disney Interactive’s online unit employees around 2,000 people, making the layoffs reduce the work force by about 3%. The terminated employees were given notice this week and it was completed this past Wednesday.

This weekend at the PAX Prime, Warren Spector and the rest of the Disney Interactive brought a new footage from the highly anticipated ‘Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two’. The footage they brought is from one of the areas in the game I’m most excited to explore, which is Fort Wasteland, an area based around Frontierland. But just because you weren’t at PAX to see new footage and pictures from the game doesn’t mean you get to be left in the dark. Thankfully, Disney Interactive have given us a chance to share some new pictures and footage of the game with you. I’m very excited to share this with you guys, and I’m sure you’re excited to see it. Hit the jump for your newest look at ‘Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two’, as well as some vintage photos of Frontierland.
At Comic-Con this year, I got a chance to not talk to the creative minds involved in ‘Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two’, which was an absolute blast. I learned so much of what was to come, and they really got me excited for the game. One of the most intriguing things of the game, of course, is the characters. What’s more interesting than getting to play as Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit? One of the coolest things about ‘Epic Mickey 2′, for me, is that for the first time ever, Oswald is going to have a voice. That’s right, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who has never spoken a line of dialog, will finally have a voice. This is definitely a huge thing, and I for one couldn’t be happier about it. But he and Mickey aren’t the only two characters in the game, and Disney interactive has unveiled an excellent new behind the scenes feature of the game that will let you get to know the characters.
