Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder Rescues Migrant Rafters
One of the Disney Cruise Line‘s ships picked up eight migrant rafters last Friday. The Disney Wonder was sailing approximately forty miles from Key West on April 12, 2013 when they spotted and rescued eight migrant rafters. Their nationality has not been released yet. Carnival Cruise Line’s Conquest ship reported that they picked up thirteen Cuban nationals in the same area on Friday.
All of these individuals have been turned over to the United States Coast Guard. The U.S. Coast Guard is currently interviewing all of these migrant rafters that were rescued by the two cruise ships off the Florida Keys. Petty Officer Mark Barney says that Coast Guard officials will decide whether they will be sent back to their country of origin or be turned over to U.S. authorities.
Possible Changes Coming to Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line may be making some major announcements soon! Disney Cruise Line is rumored to be adding two new cruise ships to their current fleet of four ships. One ship is expected to be added in 2015 and another in 2016. These new ships are planned to be mid-size, meaning they will be larger than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ships, but smaller than the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream ships.
Although nothing has been confirmed by Disney officials, it looks promising that we will see two brand new Disney cruise ships within the next three years! Disney has a “Monstrous Summer” press event planned for April 25 and 26 which according to invitations will include Disney Cruise Line news.
The other major change being speculated about with Disney Cruise Line is that the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ships may be scheduled to under-go major renovations, including a make-over and other enhancements. Both of these ships have already been upgraded multiple times and the Disney Magic is already scheduled for a six-week refurbishment later this year.
There are numerous reasons for Disney to expand Disney Cruise Line due to its wonderful success. Disney Cruise Line just received top honors earlier this year. You can see some of these awards here. Disney Cruise Line already has thousands of guests sailing aboard their two newest ships every week. Disney Parks and Resorts even received a 3% revenue increase in 2011 over 2010 as a result of the addition of the Disney Dream ship. The success of the Disney Fantasy in the Disney Cruise Line fleet should also further encourage Disney to continue expanding.
What do you think Disney should change or add to their ships? What do you think is essential to keep the same on the ships that Disney already does right? What do you think Disney should name these potential new ships?

Disney Cruise Line Says Bon Voyage to Texas but launches with New Low Rates
Come the end of this year Disney Cruise line will no longer use Galveston, Texas as a homeport. This comes as sad news to many in the southern states as it did for me when Disney left New York as a homeport.
The silver lining to all this is that Disney still has great rates for this coming fall! You can still book and receive an onboard credit as well as half off the deposit at time of booking.
If you book from now until May 15th you will receive an onboard credit up to $200 depending on the stateroom you book and you can’t compete with only having to put down half of the normal deposit.
Rates for a 7-night Bahamian or Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney Wonder between September 28th and November 16th start at $699 for an Inside stateroom, $749 for Ocean view stateroom and $899 for Verandah stateroom (per person, based on double occupancy).
