Online Video Upload Promotion Lets Kids and Teens Rock in the Holidays for a Chance to Win a Trip to Go Behind-the-Scenes of a Disney Music Video

Top Videos of the Week to be Showcased on Disney.com’s New Web Series Rule the Mix

This Holiday season, Disney.com invites kids and teens to channel their inner rock star in the U Rock the Holidays event at Disney.com/URock.   The online video promotion lets guests create their own music videos from a selection of holiday tunes from Disney artists, then upload them on Disney.com/URock.  One grand prize winner will receive a trip to Los Angeles for a rare opportunity to go behind-the-scenes of a Disney music video and meet the artists!

To participate in U Rock the Holidays, Disney.com guests download one of the available :30 song clips, then create and upload their own music videos to the site. The videos will be posted in a gallery on the Disney.com/URock page where guests can then view, comment and “like” the video submissions.  For some creative inspiration, guests can check out U Rock the Holidays video submissions from some of their favorite characters including  The Muppets, WALL-E, Agent P and Swampy.

This year’s U Rock the Holidays song selections include:

  • “Dig Down Deeper” sung by Zendaya from Pixie Hollow Games
  •  “Winter Vacation” from Phineas and Ferb Holiday Favorites
  • “Naughty Naughty Children (Better Start Actin’ Nice)” by Grace Potter from Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice on ABC
  • “Forget You” from Disney’s The Muppets Soundtrack

Additional songs will be released throughout the promotion to keep Disney.com guests rockin’ throughout the holiday season.

Each person who uploads an eligible video will receive the hit Disney Mobile app, “Where’s My Water?”  To kick it up a notch, there will be a daily sweepstakes and winners will be randomly selected to receive a Disney prize pack, which will include a Walt Disney Records CD.  A final grand prize winner will be selected by Disney.com and receive a trip to Los Angeles to go behind-the-scenes of a Disney music video production and meet the artists. Videos will be accepted from now until 4:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on December 13, 2011. The winners will be announced in January 2012.

For even more rock star treatment, Casey and Tyler from Disney.com’s Rule the Mix web series will feature a video medley each week on their show, from the best  U Rock the Holidays submissions.  Rule the Mix is a new weekly show on Disney.com that celebrates entertaining and hilarious videos made by Disney.com guests.

Disney.com Launches Season Two of the Taste of Disney Web Series

The “Taste of Disney” web series on Disney.com offers guests the rare opportunity to explore the delectable culinary experiences found at Disney Parks and bring the magic into their homes. Mother and daughter hosts Pam Brandon and Katie Farmand are back for the second season, giving guests a behind-the-scenes look into the amazing food and special events of Disney Parks.

This season’s episodes feature in-depth interviews with the head chefs and event planners from Disney Parks, sharing their secrets from the most magical dining spots in the country. Fans can look forward to:

  • Finding out how 900,000 sumptuous samplings, 338,000 wine glasses and 100,000 desserts are made and distributed over the 45 days of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
  • Seeing how some of their favorite iconic foods like Disney’s Polynesian Resort “Tonga Toast” and Main St. Confectionary’s Mickey inspired candy apples are made
  • An interview with the chef de cuisine of the Flying Fish Café about the restaurant and one of their most popular signature dishes
  • A look at how Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa has inspired the all-new Hawaiian kiosk at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and tips for hosting an authentic luau at home

After watching each episode, guests will be able to access the recipes for all featured dishes and make them at home. Guests can also check out the “Meet the Chefs” page for in-depth information about the hosts, chefs and other guests from the series.

Disney Interactive & Youtube Sign Video Partnership

Disney and YouTube announce a content partnership worth $10 million to $15 million according to the The New York Times.

Under the terms of the agreement, YouTube will invest millions of dollars on an original video series produced by Disney and distributed exclusively through a new co-branded channel on both YouTube and Disney.com.

A video series based on Disney’s mobile game Where’s My Water? and its main character Swampy will be the first project to launch in February on the Tube.

“With online video consumption exploding and YouTube at the center of that trend, we see an opportunity for Disney Interactive and YouTube to bring Disney’s legacy of storytelling to a new generation of families and Disney enthusiasts on the platforms they prefer,” said Jimmy Pitaro, co-president of Disney Interactive, in a statement.

Disney.com’s Star Tours website will be releasing exclusive Star Tours printables for fans to download. Stormtroopers and Jedi alike can now visit the Star Tours destination page to download and print a Star Tours poster to hang inside their Starspeeder 1000s. Fans can also access an exclusive Disney.com Vinylmation Star Wars™ iron-on to help spruce up their intergalactic wardrobe and accessories. Be on the lookout for Star Tours coloring pages to help entertain the young padawans in the family debuting over the next few days.

The site also features exclusive videos, character bios, descriptions of the Star Tours planet destinations and behind-the-scenes footage from the attraction at Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort. Fans can check out even more exclusive Star Tours crafts, printables and recipes from DisneyFamily.com.

Disney has a new contest on Disney.com/Create where fans can have the chance to meet Selena Gomez and see her in concert!

In a new Selena Gomez & The Scene Make Your Jam contest on Disney.com/Create, fans have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet Selena Gomez and the band backstage and see them in concert!

To enter, fans can create their own music videos in the Selena Gomez Music Slideshow app on Disney.com/Create by using cool pictures and songs from her latest album, “When the Sun Goes Down.”

The Music Slideshows can then be saved and shared online with other fans on Disney.com. The grand prize winner will receive two tickets to see Selena Gomez & The Scene in concert and have the chance to meet Selena and the band backstage.

The contest ends July 31.
