Disney Celebrates its 1-Billionth Video View on YouTube with Exclusive Programming Event

Disney Celebrates its 1 Billionth Video View on YouTube with Exclusive Programming Event

Disney’s storytelling legacy is expanding online through Disney.com and its growing presence on YouTube, having just surpassed its 1-billionth YouTube video view.  The company recently launched a new Disney network on YouTube (www.youtube.com/disney), part of a larger deal with YouTube that was announced in November 2011. The partnership offers complementary family-friendly video destinations for Disney audiences on both YouTube and Disney.com, featuring the best Disney video content along with curated family-friendly videos from across YouTube.

This week, the company is celebrating these milestones with a special 10-day programming event on its YouTube network.  New original and exclusive videos will be introduced from across Disney, including Disney Parks, Radio Disney, Games, and Theatrical, and its YouTube content partners.

Disney Interactive Labs introduces Video Portal

Disney Interactive Labs introduces Video Portal

Disney Interactive Labs has recently released a new video portal located at video.disney.com.  This interactive portal allows you to watch trailers, YouTube videos, and clips — all from your browser on either your desktop machine or mobile device.  This sort of site is right up my alley, and my daughter’s also!  We are always looking for Disney video information, and now, with this site, we’ve got a lot of it right at our fingertips.

The video quality is phenomenal.  For example, take a look at the trailer for the upcoming movie “Brave”

Watch on Disney Video

With sections for Movies, Shows, Collections, and YouTube, the amount of video available is quite a lot.  Right now, there aren’t any real full episodes available, but I would be surprised if that doesn’t change in the future.  It will be interesting to see if they expand on it.  One thing I think would be incredible to see would be attraction videos, such as a trip through Splash Mountain, or a video of the World of Color.  I don’t think that things like this would detract from people going to see the real deal, instead I think it would whet their whistle so that they make those vacation plans a little sooner then they thought they were going to.  It wouldn’t even be a bad idea for them to have a section for the Disney Planning DVD available for watch or download.  Time will tell what we see as the site evolves.
