Disney Hires ‘Catch Me If You Can’ Screenwriter for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′
It appears there’s some life left in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ franchise, or at least Walt Disney Studios is hoping there is. The popular franchise, based on the Disneyland attraction, is now four movies in, and apparently counting. Walt Disney Studios has hired Jeff Nathanson, the man who wrote the Steven Spielberg film ‘Catch Me If You Can’, which starred Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio, to pen the currently untitled fifth film in the series. This will be the first in the series that hasn’t been written by Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio, which I think could actually be beneficial to the series. The movie is still set to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and will once again see Johnny Depp dawn his pirates outfit as Jack Sparrow. Nothing else about the film is known at this time.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow To Open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A new attraction is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow will officially open on December 6th, though in normal Disney fashion there will be a soft opening sometime in late November. This new attraction will engage visitors in all the adventure you can imagine that goes with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film series.
When you visit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow, you will journey deep into an eerie lost grotto, where a mysterious pirate skull puts you to the test to see if you have what it takes to set sail with the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow. Along the way, you must face all the perils of a pirate’s life as their favorite moments from the films come to life before your eyes.
It is always a great day at Disney but a new adventure makes it even better! Are you planning on visiting Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow on your next Walt Disney World vacation?

The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney has announced via the summer edition of Mickey Monitor, the newsletter for Annual Passholders, that a new attraction will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow will be “will be a first-of-its-kind sensory experience in which Guests will have the chance to be enveloped by the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean® as seen in the four feature films.” It is assumed that the new attraction will be located in Stage 4 which was the home to Journey Into Narnia. Jason Roberts, Walt Disney Imagineering Project Manager and Show Producer the new attraction says that “This is going to be an immersive experience” and that they will “put our Guests in the middle of it all in new and exciting ways.”
While it was first reported that this attraction would open this summer, the Disney Parks Blog posted today that it would not open until this fall. An official opening date will be announced later this year. I am excited to see what this new attraction will include. I always liked the idea of Journey into Narnia but I was let down by the actual attraction. I love seeing props from films and I think this is something that Hollywood Studios has been missing.
