‘Shanghai Noon/Shanghai Knights’ Blu-ray Review

Shanghai Noon/Shanghai Knights Blu ray Review

There’s few genres that are nearly as cool as the Western genre, and the Martial Arts genre. Both have been mainstays in cinema for quite some time, for good reason, because they both house some of the greatest films of all time. So it’s no surprise that combining the genres offered something fun and exciting. Mixed with a fish out of water comedy tale, ‘Shanghai Noon’, as well as it’s sequel, ‘Shanghai Knights’, come together as two of the most entertaining films of the early 2000′s. These two films were in constant rotation back when they were on DVD, but ever since blu-ray took off, I’ve been hoping that these two would eventually get a release. They seem like prime candidates for the format, with their fun action scenes in all the films, as well as some beautiful shots of the American frontier, the victorian London setting, and awesome costumes. While it was a long wait, Walt Disney Pictures has finally released the two films in a double feature pack, much to my delight, and probably to the joys of many Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson fans as well.

‘Dick Tracy’ Blu-ray Review

Dick Tracy Blu ray Review

One of the best comic book films of all time has finally arrived on blu-ray, courtesy of Walt Disney Home Video. Warren Beatty’s ‘Dick Tracy‘ was made in a time when comic book films weren’t very prevalent, so the few that were released made them all the more exciting. Seeing the characters many grew up reading, for the first time on the big screen, living and breathing, was huge. Few films captured the aesthetic and feel of the comic it was based on nearly as well as ‘Dick Tracy’ did. Beatty, who wrote and directed the film, surrounded himself with an all star cast including Al Pacino, Dick Van Dyke, Madonna, and Dustin Hoffman, creating one of cinema’s most exciting ensembles. Thankfully, ‘Dick Tracy’ has arrived on blu-ray sporting an excellent transfer and audio track, really bringing the film to life like never before.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit Arrives on Blu-Ray in March 2013

Who Framed Roger Rabbit Arrives on Blu Ray in March 2013

I’m so excited that this film is coming to Blu-ray! “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is one of my favorite films of all time, and it will be landing back on the shelves in a special 25th anniversary edition DVD/Blu-ray combo pack on March 12, 2013. The Academy Award-winning film directed by Robert Zemeckis has been restored and will look crisper than ever with clean special effects and digital restoration.

For those who have never seen the film (gasp!), “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” tells the tale of a bitter detective that hates toons after one killed his brother. The detective must prove that Roger Rabbit, a silly cartoon rabbit, is innocent after being accused of murder.

The Blu-ray release will feature some special features, including digitally restored Roger Rabbit shorts (“Tummy Trouble”, “Roller-Coaster Rabbit”, “Trail Mix-Up”), the original theatrical trailer, deleted scenes, audio commentary, and more.
