New Disney Policy for Accompanying Children Under Seven on Rides

New Disney Policy for Accompanying Children Under Seven on Rides

You might remember last month when we shared the news about Unaccompanied Park Entry Changes. Well according to Theme Park Insider, Disney is changing their policy on accompanying children under seven on rides. The rules for children to visit an attraction or ride a ride are continuously changing to become more strict to insure the safety of these children. The newest change to the policy though may make vacations more difficult for families with multiple children.

Disney’s previous policy was that children under the age of seven were required to have someone at least fourteen years of age or older to accompany them on rides; if there were not enough adults, children were permitted to ride in adjacent vehicles. The new policy though states that if a child is under seven years of age, an accompanying person who is at least fourteen years old must ride in the same row or the row behind the child in the same vehicle.

Disney World to Host First-Ever ‘A Walk Around The World’ Charity Walk

Disney World to Host First Ever A Walk Around The World Charity Walk

This fall, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida will be the venue to For A Cause, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that orchestrates multi-day charity walks in vacation destinations. This group is unique in that they allow participants to walk for the charity of their choice. The “A Walk Around The World” event will be a walk-only fundraiser that can only accommodate 50 participants. It is scheduled to occur November 14-18, 2013. Over the course of three days, participants will average walking ten miles each day. Their course will take them through Disney World resorts, water parks, and theme parks.

“There are so many die-hard WDW fans out there who are going to love the idea of visiting their favorite theme park while walking to raise money for the nonprofit of their choice,” according to Robert Webber, president of For A Cause. “In years past, For A Cause participants have traveled to castles in Europe and trekked miles throughout historical destinations, but this is the first time they’ll be given a chance to visit Cinderella’s castle and walk miles throughout a fantasy destination. It’s going to be some serious fun — the Walk will be both magical and meaningful. If your feet get a little tired, you can just hop on one of the enchanted rides and take a break!”

Top 10 Activities for Adults at Walt Disney World

Top 10 Activities for Adults at Walt Disney World

For those of you who think Walt Disney World is “just for kids”, thank again! There is plenty to do for adults too, including:

  1. Water sports: You can go water skiing, jet-skiing, rent a boat (motorboats, or pedal boats and canoes for the more physically inclined), and even go para-sailing at several WDW resorts
  2. Sample some world-class cuisine: WDW has become very famous for it’s food, from delicious pastries and baked goods to 5 star cuisine and foods from all over the world, it truly is a dining experience like no other (It’s not just burgers and fries like you might expect at a theme park, although if you really want a burger, they have some super delicious ones!)
  3. Go on a “Beer Tour” around Epcot: The Epcot World Showcase features countries and their cultures, traditions, foods, and drinks. Each country serves ‘adult beverages’ you would find if you were actually visiting that country, and going from place to place sampling the native drinks is a great way to spend an afternoon. Or try our Disney Around the World Showcase Challenge.
  4. Nightlife: Catch some live music at the House of Blues, take in La Nouba (Disney’s exclusive Cirque Du Soleil show), or just stroll along the paths of Downtown Disney at night.
