The American Idol Experience at WDW Introduces New Songs for a New Season

The American Idol Experience at WDW Introduces New Songs for a New Season

Just as “American Idol” on television makes changes each season, The American Idol Experience has recently been updated with the addition of 14 new songs, which guests can choose to perform for their big moment on stage.

Many of the new songs, including hits from former American Idols, are titles that have been requested by guests auditioning at The American Idol Experience. Taking a cue from the television show, where country music has become more prominent, the list also adds several more songs from that genre.

Here’s the complete list of the recent additions, bringing the total number of songs available for auditions to 158. Which one would be a dream come true for you to perform on The American Idol Experience stage?

New ‘American Idol’ Phillip Phillips Surprises Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

New ‘American Idol’ Phillip Phillips Surprises Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The newest “American Idol,” Phillip Phillips, surprised a theater full of park guests Thursday when he made an appearance on-stage at “The American Idol Experience” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Phillips, who hit the top 10 on the charts with his single “Home,” was in central Florida for a performance of the “American Idol Live!” concert tour. The nationwide tour continues through mid-September.

In addition to making a surprise appearance for guests at “The American Idol Experience,” Phillips taped a series of short videos that Walt Disney Entertainment plans to utilize in the future during the attraction experience.

And of course, what visit to Disney Parks would be complete without a meeting with Mickey and Minnie? Disney Parks Blog author and photographer Matt Stroshane shot this picture of the smiling trio posing in front of the attraction.

“Carbon-Freeze Me” Experience at Star Wars Weekends 2012

Carbon Freeze Me Experience at Star Wars Weekends 2012

Coming this year to Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll have the opportunity to relive the famous carbon freezing scene from The Empire Strikes Back with the “Carbon-Freeze Me” experience. This new experience was created especially for Disney Parks, and is part of our “D-Tech Me” line that uses technology to take personalization to a whole new level.

Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, this experience casts your likeness as a three-dimensional, eight-inch figurine. At the “Carbon Freezing Chamber” (located adjacent to The American Idol Experience), several cameras will capture multiple angles of your face. The images are then reconstructed in a computer for processing, and, in approximately four weeks, the completed figurine is shipped directly to your house.

Each carbonite figurine is $99.95 (plus shipping). You can order additional figurines using the same image scan for $74.95 each. The replica figurine can be hung on a wall, just like the gangster Jabba the Hutt did in Return of the Jedi. Guests also receive a light-up wristband.

The experience will officially open on Friday May 18 with the launch of Star Wars Weekends 2012. Reservations are required and can be made starting Monday, May 7 by calling 407-WDW-TECH (407-939-8324).

*Please note – Separate Theme Park admission required for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. No discounts apply unless otherwise noted. Guests must be at least three (3) years of age to participate. A valid accepted credit card number is required at time of booking. No-shows or in the event a reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of scheduled experience will result in such credit card being charged a $25 cancellation fee. The experience, due to its personalized nature is non-refundable and not eligible for an exchange. Children must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age or older during the entire experience. Certain restrictions may apply. All prices, components and information are subject to change without notice.

‘Meet Up and Warm Up’ for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend with Reality TV Stars in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

runDisney hosted its largest social media “Meet Up and Warm Up” to kick off Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Friday at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.

Participants were selected via Disney social media channels including the Disney Parks Blog, Disney Sports’ Twitter handle and runDisney Facebook page.

Official runDisney training consultant Jeff Galloway led the group of 50 on a 1.8-mile run through Disney’s Hollywood Studios, passing such attractions as, Lights, Motor, Action! Stunt Show, Toy Story Mania! and The American Idol Experience along the way.

After the run-walk-run training, Galloway was joined by P90X’s Tony Horton. The fitness guru gave the crowd cross training and nutrition tips. Reality TV stars Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca (winners of “Survivor” and competitors on “The Amazing Race”) joined the group, sharing their stories on why they run.

Disney Show Director John Phelan stepped on stage with Mickey Mouse to share some runDisney entertainment magic. Phelan discussed why they choose to place characters at certain points along the course.

Participants had the opportunity to take photos with Mickey, Galloway. Horton, Zohn and Morasca before making a special trip to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The opportunity foreshadows runDisney’s newest race, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten Miler Weekend, slated to debut Sept. 29, 2012.
