Sea World’s killer whale Tilikum has died

According to a post shared on SeaWorld’s Facebook page Tikikum the killer whale has died.

 

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of Tilikum, one of SeaWorld Orlando’s most well-known orcas.


Tilikum has been a beloved member of the SeaWorld Family for 25 years and has touched the lives of millions. He will be missed greatly by the SeaWorld family, as well as the many people he inspired.

Tilikum is estimated to be 36 years old and died early Friday at SeaWorld Orlando from an apparent bacterial lung infection.

Tilikum was featured in the controversial documentary “Blackfish,” which swayed popular opinion against keeping killer whales in captivity at SeaWorld.
