Relaxing Evening Activities at Walt Disney World

Relax and Disney may not seem to go together. But, every vacation needs some down time. After all, isn’t that what vacations are meant for? I want to share with you some suggestions to incorporate relaxation into your Disney vacation.

Dinner and a movie. Many Disney resorts offer nightly movie viewing-even if you’re not a guest at that particular resort. One of our favorite places to catch a movie is on Disney’s Boardwalk on the beach. Consider getting a pizza {which is 2 QS credits} and settling down with a movie for the evening. Either outdoors at your resort or in your room, you can still catch some Disney magic while unwinding from the parks.

Take a spin. Dumbo, Aladdin’s Magic Carpets, the Astro Orbiter, and Cinderella’s Carousel are some of my favorite attractions at night. They provide awesome views of the lights of the park, and if you time it right, they can be unique views for Wishes.

Row Your Boat. Ride the water taxi around Bay Lake. If you hop on it from Magic Kingdom, you’ll land at the Grand Floridian Resort first. Continuing on, you’ll eventually see Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort/Bay Lake Towers on your ride. Some of my best pictures of Cinderella’s castle come from views I’ve caught on the water taxi. You can also ride the Sassagoula River from the Port Orleans Resorts to Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney down time. Although this can be a bustling place of entertainment and shopping, some of our more relaxed “down time” moments have occurred at Downtown Disney. Take some time to enjoy each room at The World of Disney. My kids love trying on the hats, giving the light up toys a spin, and looking at the pins and lanyards. Hit the LEGO store for a new set to build, and camp out by the water and the stage area. As the kids are building their new sets, enjoy some time to people watch and a snack.

Wishes.  You can take in Wishes from any Disney resort along the Seven Seas Lagoon.  The Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian are two great places to watch Wishes outside of the parks and away from the crowds.

Do you take “down time” on your Disney vacation?  Part of the magic is enjoying the lights, decor, and atmosphere of the Disney parks.

Magically Yours,

Carrie

  1. The boat rides are very nice and very relaxing. I enjoyed seeing the different resorts from the boat. Downtown Disney is a lot of fun too.

  2. I like the idea of a movie at night at a different hotel like the beach one you said. I also like the fact that there are great spots for fireworks even when we arent int he park.
