Just did this! We bought 2 $200 cards to use as our down payment and got 1600 fuel points!!! Nothing like saving money with something I was going to do anyway!

  • We do this! Love getting the discount on gas. I will spread out my purchase of the gift cards over several months to budget for my vacation too.

  • We always get them at Kroger. I use my coupon savings to purchase cards and we use the cards to pay for food and souvenirs! I usually buy them as soon as the trip is booked. You can leave disney with little to no debt if go with plenty of prepaid cards in hand. We always use the fuel perks on the way!

I do this and pay with one of my reward credit cards. I mainly look at what I think I will spend on food and buy enough gift cards for that. I try to buy most of my merchandise when I have enough to get the 10% discount with my Disney visa or more often then not now, it seems especially at WDW you can get the 20% off coupons from some of the quick service counters for merchandise purchases before 1 (BTW, if you don’t often look at your Disney receipts, do, they sometimes include coupons). So yeah, mainly for buying food.

  • We got our gift cards at Giant Eagle. There is no limit on the discount on gas, so you can get your gas for free. We basically used gift cards for EVERYTHING. We paid for our reservations through our travel agent, souvenirs, any food not paid for on the meal plan and everything else we bought since we were staying on property. Giant Eagle also offers $500 gift cards. (We bought our cards over the holidays and ended up getting double Fuel Perks, saving even more. They have since discontinued the double Perks, though.) We saved a TON of money!
