Kate & Mim-Mim on Disney Junior is set to premiere Friday December 19, 2014. just around the corner, The premiere will be a special holiday episode,titled A Christmas Wish.
Kate & Mim-mim comes to us from the creators Scott and Julie Stewart, who took inspiration from their own family when coming up with the idea for a new preschool show. Julie says the inspiration came to them from their own daughter Kate who was only 2 at the time, and her beloved plush bunny. The idea of the toy rabbit coming to life sprung from imaginations of their sons, who have wild and crazy ideas.
Recently I was given the opportunity to watch a special preview of the new Holiday Special, A Christmas Wish. It’s a cute and charming episode of a little girl who’s hoping Santa will grant her one Christmas wish. It’s a bit different than some of the main shows in the Disney Junior line up, but still offers values and problem solving. The animation is full child like wonder, with soft edges, and asymmetrical proportions. I watched this special preview with my 3 year old son, he enjoyed the bright colors, and was amused by the charming characters. He enjoyed Mim-mim, and giggled at the large purple bunny’s jokes. My personal favorite was Gobble, who reminded me a bit of a Gopher.
In this episode Kate worries her dad won’t be home in time to put the Christmas Star on top of the tree, because of a storm on Christmas Eve. Using her imagination she unlocks the door to Mimiloo, where she tells her whimsical friends all about Christmas. After learning about all about Christmas and Santa, the gang is excited to send their Christmas wishes to Santa Claus. Disaster strikes when a blizzard stops their Christmas wishes from reaching Santa, and the friends must find a way to save Christmas!
