Pangani Forest Exploration Trail

Pangani Forest is in Animal Kingdom, located in the country of Africa.  You will find the entrance to the trail to the right of the Kilimanjaro Safari.

This “walk at your own pace” trail is a perfect place to explore while waiting for FASTPASS entry time to the Safari.  You will be surprised at all there is to see!  The self guided walk is set up like an observation station in the jungle.  There are guides throughout to answer any questions.  Here is what you will find as you walk through the trail:

  • Black and White Colobus Monkeys
  • Stanley Cranes, Okapi
  • Observation Hut with Naked Mole Rats and Reptiles
  • African Birds, Ducks and Geese
  • Hippos with Underwater Viewing Area
  • Meerkats
  • Lowland Gorillas
The Lowland Gorillas are the most popular attraction along the trail.  The glass window observation center can be very crowded so skip it and move along the way if you like.  As you cross a wooden bridge you will enter the rest of the gorilla habitat.  The left side is usually the single males, while the family units are to the right.   Keep your eyes open as the gorillas will be napping anywhere.  Don’t forget to look down into the rocks.
There are no restrictions for this trail, but you are asked to start at the beginning and work your way through to the end without turning around.   The walk is 3/8 of a mile and will take about 20-30 minutes.  Strollers, wheelchairs and EVC’s are able to use the trail with ease.   You will be asked to speak quietly, the gorillas will see you as a threat should you decide to make loud noises to get their attention.
Quick Tip:  Don’t miss out on everything else Pangani Forest Exploration Trail has to offer by rushing to the gorillas.
Overall we give this attraction an “A”.
