Planning To Visit Disney During Christmas? Read This Before You Plan Any Further

No matter when you plan to go, a vacation in Walt Disney will be an unforgettable experience. Christmas is an extra special time to visit Disneyland. Visiting Disney during the Christmas holidays will not only save you from the heat and humidity experienced during the summer months but will also fascinate you with the wonderful holiday decorations strung all over the park. Christmas is also the time when crowds are generally lighter than other times of the year.

A vacation in Disney World is guaranteed to be a great choice, especially if you are traveling with kids. Adults and children alike will thoroughly enjoy the wonders of the Magic Kingdom and other attractions. However, if you are confused about which Disney holiday would be best for your family, it would be a good idea to know your options first.

Here is a look at the Disney vacations you can choose from during Christmas:

The Disney Park Resort in California

Established in 1955, this was the first and the only Disney theme park designed by the legendary Walt Disney. There are two major theme parks here – the Disney Adventure Park and the Disneyland Park. The adventure Park consists of four themed areas – Golden State, Hollywood Pictures Backlot, A Bug’s Land and Paradise Pier. Disneyland Park features plenty of unique attractions in addition to an entire range of regular rides and thrills. The Downtown Disney District located between these two theme parks is a perfect location for dining, entertainment and shopping. There are also three Disney hotels here.

Disney Cruises

Disney Cruises feature two ships – Disney Wonder and Disney Magic that take you to Castaway Cay, a private island located in the Bahamas that has been designed as a port of call just for Disney ships. Weekly cruises depart from Florida to the Bahamas or the Western Caribbean. There are also special cruises that cross the Panama Canal.

Walt Disney World

Located in Florida, the Walt Disney World, stretched across 47 square miles, is the largest of all the Disney theme parks. The four theme parks here are Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom Park and Disney-MGM Studios. It also features two water parks – Blizzard Beach and the Typhoon Park. Other attractions at the Walt Disney World include two golf courses, an auto racing track, a sports complex, over 20 resort hotels and innumerable spots for dining, shopping and entertainment.

Tokyo Disney Resort

This was the first Disney park that was based outside the United States. This Disney resort features two theme parks Tokyo Disney Sea Park and Tokyo Disneyland. The Disney Sea park consists of seven distinct lands called Mediterranean Harbor, American Waterfront, Mysterious Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Port Discovery, Arabian Coast and Lost River Delta. There are also five Disney hotels and a shopping and entertainment area called the Ikspiari that includes a play-and-care area for children. The seven themed lands here are World Bazaar, Westernland, Adventure Land, Tomorrow Land, Toon Town, Critter Country and Fantasy Land.

All these Disney locales are special in their own way. So no matter which location you choose, it is sure to be your best vacation and the most memorable Christmas holiday ever.

  1. Christmas at Disney World is both a wonderful and awful time. All of Walt Disney World dresses up for Christmas. There are special shows, events and parades. It's truly amazing what Disney does for the holidays. That's the good part.

The awful part is the week between Christmas and New Years, crowds overwhelm Walt Disney World. On Christmas Day you can't even get into the Magic Kingdom if you arrive in the afternoon. There are always wall-to-wall people for the whole week.

So, you might ask, how can we enjoy Christmas at Disney World?

Easy, just go anytime between November 15th and December 20th. Disney has all the decorations up usually by November 15. Crowds (except for Thanksgiving week) are light to moderate until just before Christmas. It's a wonderful time to visit.
