This epic adventure comes to life with vibrant picture and sound and includes an impressive variety of never-before-seen bonus material including “The Magic of ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’ Second Screen Feature,” James Franco’s personal story of his journey to the land of Oz produced and directed by Franco himself, Mila Kunis’ makeup metamorphosis and much more!

Oz The Great and Powerful is an amazing story about courage and the truth. Oscar or Oz is a magician down on his luck who isn’t necessarily the most truthful man. In the beginning we meet his assistant who he ironically compares to a trained monkey a woman Oz truly loves and a little girl in a wheelchair with hopes of walking someday. The color on this movie was amazing and breathtaking. Costumes were so detailed and really popped out of the screen with their vividness. The makeup transformations were amazing from Theodora to a Wicked Witch was my favorite and is also an amazing bonus feature you should check out when you grab this DVD!

James Franco is someone I have always heard of but I’ve never really seen him in anything before. I wanted to know if the hype was true. I’m glad to say it is he is an amazing actor with a great charm and wit that really brings the wizard to life. There’s also the stunning Michelle Williams who is as beautiful as she is talented and of course Mila Kunis who portrayed both her characters with amazing grace. We also have the voice work of Joey King and Zach Braff who play the gentle yet feisty China Girl and the ever loyal Finley. China girl happens to be my favorite character I love her feisty nature. She seems to be so gentle and kind but theirs more than meets the eye with this little doll.

The bonus features on this film are my favorite! The bloopers are hilarious and a must see! From China Girl’s arm being ripped off by James Franco and a broom hitting Mila Kunis in the head it’s sure to make you laugh till your sides hurt. One of the bonus features is directed by James Franco himself as he takes us through his experience in becoming the wizard of oz. It’s a lovely little insight to the film and also something I recommend especially if you just want to see James Franco on your TV for a little more time. We also see behind the scenes stuff having to do with the music of oz. Oz has a delightful sound to it at least I think. I’m not sure it would be the same without that wonderful music so check that out as well.

All in all I loved this movie it exceeded my expectations and is a new favorite of mine!

I give this movie a solid B

  2. My granddaughter loved the wicked witch, I am scared of the flying monkeys but we all love Glinda.

  3. I have not yet seen the new one, so I’d have to with Glinda, the good witch. There were some pretty awesome munchkins though too.

  11. I haven’t seen it yet. I am not a James Franco fan so I decided I would wait instead of going to the theater to see it.

  12. My absolute fave was always Toto in the original. The witch’s guards were funny, too. I always thought their chant sounded a lot like Oreo!

  13. What an amazing movie! I hope they make sequals for it. Oscar was great but I think the witches stole the show.

  14. Dorothy. The Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie of all time – And I was suprised I liked Oz so much! I loved the little China Girl!

  15. It was a fantastic movie!! i have 4 kids (2 boys and 2 girls) and the boys went with my hubby and me to see it when the girls were off with their grandma. I can’t wait to get a copy so I can watch it with the girls!!!

  17. I’m a Dorothy girl! I did not get the chance to see Oz in the theaters, but I am looking forward to checking it out soon.

  18. My favorite Wizard of Oz character is the Scarecrow. Him and Dorothy had a close bond and he was always trying to protect her.

  19. I love the Lion in the original and I think Galinda is my favourite Wicken character (and now I think I’m gonna have “Popular” in my head for the rest of the afternoon)

  20. My favorite character from the original Wizard of Oz (because I haven’t seen Oz the Great and Powerful yet) is the Wicked Witch of the West. Awesome character!
