New Queue at Disney World's Haunted Mansion

“Welcome foolish mortals…”

It’s one of my favorite lines of any attraction…of course you all know where it’s from…Haunted Mansion!

If you’ve been in a hurry to get into the Mansion you’re missing out on my favorite addition to the attraction-the graveyard. If you go right, to get right on the ride, you truly are a foolish mortal. Veer left and go through the graveyard and take your Haunted Mansion experience to a whole new level.

Play instruments set in stone with just the sweep of your hand, watch books check themselves in and out of the library, and be a muse…this is my favorite station! Watch as the pages of a blank journal come to life with a poem or question…be sure to speak up when you answer the spirit…she doesn’t like silent muses!

The installation of the new queue relocated something secret hunters have long sought; the bride’s ring. The backstory of the bride has had many versions, and each cast member you ask will tell you their own, this is one urban legend that has taken a life of its own. One of the original backstories is this: Master Gracey was married 6 times, and all of his wives died. He proposed to his 7th wife, who was a prankster. She decided to play a prank and hide in a trunk in the attic on their wedding night, but the trunk locked and nobody heard her cries for help; she suffocated and died. Master Gracey was ridden with grief and had his wife’s body placed in a horse drawn carriage to be brought to the cemetery. Something spooked the horse and it bolted, her wedding ring fell and was stomped into the pavement by the horse’s hooves. The next day the carriage was found outside the cemetery, but the horse, driver and corpse were nowhere to be found. Master Gracey was so grief stricken he went back to the mansion and hung himself.

Secret seekers knew where to find the “ring”…the ring was actually leftover metal from the relocation of the gates posts. The cement was never filled in completely so a ring was left in the cement…and the legend was born.

During the construction of the new graveyard the imagineers decided to give the secret seekers and legend makers what they wanted, and put the brides actual ring in the graveyard.

Before you go see the grim grinning ghosts, pay homage to Madame Leota, keep your eyes on her and you may see her eyes on you!

I’ve sought the secret and i’ve found the Bride’s ring…do you know where it is?

  1. I will have to make sure my son and I go left. I can’t wait to see all the new interactive things. This is one of my all time favorite attractions and it sounds like it has been taken to a whole new level. I will have my camera and recorder ready!!!!!

  2. I was disappointed last year when so much of the Haunted Mansion queue was fenced off, until I found out why! Can’t wait to see the new queue.
