A new mom is in hot water after selling her newborn son for $15,000 so she could take her other two sons on a trip to Disney World, according to court documents.
Bridget Wismer, 33, was arrested at her home in New Castle, Del. after she and the alleged baby buyer, John Gavaghan, 54, of Philadelphia, were caught on a surveillance camera taking care of the last bit of paperwork, according to New Castle County detectives.
The baby boy was born on Aug. 31 and according to court papers, Wismer didn’t want the child.
n early September, detectives were tipped off by Wismer’s grandmother, according to police. They investigated, but couldn’t substantiate the baby-selling accusation. In late September, police got another tip that led them to the place where Wismer and Gavaghan met to finalize the deal.

This really irritates me beyond what I am allowed to write here. My fiance and I have been trying for over a year to have a baby. Due to complications my body is giving us, it is proving difficult. I am on tons of fertility meds and go to the doctor at least once a month. I don’t understand why someone who admitted she didn’t want the baby can have one but my fiance and I, who would do anything for a baby, can’t seem to have one.
I feel very sad for that poor little innocent baby boy. 🙁
Wow, that’s pretty disturbing. I’m sure, in her mind, if she’s going to have a kid for someone else (like an adoption), she probably thought ‘why not get something out of it?’. Obviously not thinking beyond that to realize that it’s illegal. Society needs to find where all the common sense has been placed.
