Disney Worldwide Publishing has hit a home run for small families that have young Princesses! This app is based on the Disney Junior show “Minnie‘s Bow-Toons”, and has quite a bit going for it. For starters, when you load the app, there are three different options for you to choose from. They are Story, Bow Maker, and Big Bow Show, as you can see here.
What I learned in evaluating the app is that the Story and the Big Bow Show are linked together. Under the Story menu, there are three different stories available. In each story, there is something wrong with the character, and you and Minnie help the character out by making a bow for them using the bow maker. What I found out, though, was the when I went to Big Bow Show, I was unable to perform the show for the character‘s whose stories I hadn’t read yet, as you can see in this picture.
In the Bow Maker part of the app, you are able to select a wide array of Materials, Patterns, Colors, and Bows, all designed to help you design the best bow you can make. Just for the record, my daughter makes much better bows then I do, but I’m not upset by that fact! When you make a bow in the Bow Maker part of the app, you get to choose if you want it for yourself or for Minnie.
In the end, this app provides three outlets for your young children. First, it allows you to follow the stories to help them to learn how to read better. Secondly, it gives them a creative outlet to create bows that they design with the only limitation being their imagination. Lastly, it allows them to have a “big girl experience” as they watch their creations being modeled on the character that they helped in the stories.
The Minnie Bow Maker app costs $3.99, and is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, and can be purchased at the iTunes store. Enjoy!
