Menu Announced for 2nd Annual Special Diets IllumiNations Dessert Party

The dessert menu has been announced for the 2nd Annual Special Diets IllumiNations Dessert Party being held Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the France Pavilion at Epcot® in the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. This event is being hosted by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW and presented by platinum sponsor Mousekejournals. Other sponsors include Disney Dining, Theme Park Concierges, “Mouse”cation, Orlando Theme Park Shoppers, Walt Disney World Made Easy for Everyone, My Dreams of Disney, Living with the Magic from Mouseketrips, Allergy Free Mouse, and of course, Chip & Co. The event will include a dessert buffet in which all items will be made to be free of the top 8 common allergens (including gluten/wheat, dairy, egg, soy, tree nut, peanut, fish, and shellfish). This year’s dessert party is being held during the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival and all of the desserts will reflect that theme.

Disney’s Catered Events really stepped up to the challenge to create delicious and creative Food & Wine Festival inspired desserts,” says Norris, event host. “It’s a rare treat for those of us who have special dietary needs and don’t usually get to enjoy goodies from the Food & Wine Festival. There’s something for everyone including children.”

This year’s menu includes:

• All American Chocolate Bacon Whoopee Pies (vegan Whoopee pies will also be available)
• Asian Green Tea and Ginger Glazed Mini Donuts
• Italian Spiced Pumpkin Chai Parfaits
• Chocolate Three Ways (Chocolate ganache covered chocolate bites, chocolate brownie bites, Mexican cinnamon chocolate drops)
• French Apple Cocotte
• Blackberry sorbet
• Blood orange sorbet with champagne

Though the names may sound exotic, these items are delicious and include very approachable ingredients. The French Apple Cocotte for example, is a warm apple cobbler served with a non-dairy “whipped cream” made from rice milk. The Italian Spiced Pumpkin Chai Parfaits taste like a layered pumpkin pie inspired cake with non-dairy pumpkin mousse. Chocolate lovers will adore the Chocolate Three Ways.

In addition to desserts, guests will be treated to giveaways and gift bags with a variety of products. Vendors donating to the 2nd Annual Special Diets Dessert Party include: Enjoy Life Foods, Udi’s Gluten Free, Bee Nut Free, Namaste Foods, Living Without Magazine, and A&J Bakery. You’ll even get a chance to get t-shirts from Chip and Co.! A full list of vendors is available on the event website.

Tickets for this event are on sale now and are $50.00 per person (ages 4 and older) and include admission to the private event, special viewing area for the nightly showing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, access to an all-you-care-to-eat dessert buffet, gift bags and giveaways with products from special diets vendors. Children 3 years of age and under are admitted free to the event with a ticket holding adult. Families are encouraged to attend.
