Most people who have been to the Walt Disney World Resort have heard of the Hidden Mickeys you can find throughout the resort. However, do you know exactly how many Hidden Mickeys there really are? Steven M. Barrett has just published the sixth edition of his Hidden Mickeys books, “Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney’s World Best Kept Secrets.”

Barrett defines Hidden Mickeys as “partial or complete images of Mickey Mouse that Disney “Imagineers” have designed to blend into their surroundings in such a way that their presence is not immediately obvious.” He has documented more than 1,200 Hidden Mickeys at the Walt Disney World Resort. This latest edition also includes twenty-seven new Hidden Mickeys found in New Fantasyland, the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history.

Barrett has been searching for and documenting Hidden Mickeys around the Walt Disney World Resort for ten years! Each edition of his books include new Hidden Mickeys around the resort as attractions are continuously being added and renovated. He has also designed his books as scavenger hunts where you can even keep track of your score as you go! You are given clues to help you find Mickey’s hiding spots, and can find more details if you need them. There are scavenger hunts available for all four theme parks as well as one for the Disney World resorts and one for the rest of Walt Disney World. You can also find an index listing all of the Hidden Mickeys throughout the Walt Disney World Resort so you can spot one where ever you are!

Barrett has also published books to highlight Hidden Mickeys at the Disneyland Resort, the Disney Cruise Line ships, and even Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

Many families take their Hidden Mickey book with them to compete to see who can find the most Hidden Mickeys. If you find one not in the book, be sure to report it to Barrett as he records and verifies these as well. In this sixth edition, Barrett acknowledges almost 1,500 fellow hunters for their contributions to his efforts.

“Hidden Mickey mania is contagious,” says Barrett. “Searching for them has escalated into a bona fide vacation mission for many Walt Disney World fans, and even beginners have happened upon a new, unreported Mickey or two.”

Hidden Mickeys is available in the Walt Disney World theme parks and at bookstores everywhere. Barrett also has a site where visitors can report sightings of new or suspected Hidden Mickeys. The address is www.HiddenMickeyGuy.com.
