Standouts…

Although the deleted scenes add little your insight into the characters or plot of the season I did enjoy the inclusion of all the webisodes. I didn’t see the The “Messages of Hope” on-line during the season but enjoyed the humor and how it took an aspect of the season and built some well needed humor and showed a side of the characters that got overlooked a bit this season. Another plus was “The Music Event: Behind the Scenes” documentary. The gimmicky Grey’s musical was not my cup of tea since I tune into Grey’s for the more gritty aspects of human interaction. The fact that some of the actors stepped up to the mic and displayed their musical talents was amazing. As a musician/guitarist myself I also appreciated seeing “Dr. Hunt” Kevin McKidd brandish his Gibson Les Paul guitar and throw down during executive producer Shonda Rhimes’ pitch of the musical to ABC execs. As a fan of the show they really should have included the entire production of the musical pitch and table reads into the bonus features disc. Why ABC do you tease us so?

The verdict…

Other than my disappointment of not including a longer blooper reel and missing that entire musical pitch to the network this season of Grey’s continued to deliver with great stories and more character development. Since fans of the series will probably purchase this set to add to their Grey’s collection there really isn’t anything negative I could say about the show. After seven seasons it seems that the cast, writers and production staff are producing some of the best episodes to date. I have been watching Grey’s since season one and after all this time they continue to develop characters that people can relate to. They are flawed and have a mountain of issues but I believe that is what makes following the show fun. Even if you’ve never seen an episode of Grey’s I believe this would be a great season to get started. One can only hope that the show can continue to develop and not “jump the shark” after this season. With the large ensemble of talented actors there seems to be a ton of unwritten stories that are just waiting to be seen. Pick up Grey’s Anatomy: The Complete Seventh Season you’ll love spending some quality time with the doctors.
