Fort Wilderness Closing Letters Left On Guest Windshields Ahead of Hurricane Irma

In order to keep their guests safe, Walt Disney World announced Thursday that Fort Wilderness and Campground will be closing this afternoon, September 9th. As Hurricane Irma makes her approach, Disney is trying to make every effort to accommodate their guests and keep them updated with current information.

We reported yesterday that pamphlets were being distributed to Resort room guests across Disney World property. It appears that Fort Wilderness is doing the same thing and leaving letters on car windshields in the parking lot. It announces that the campground will close at 2 PM today and if any guests wish to remain on property then Disney will help relocate them to another resort.

The letter states the following:

“September 7, 2017
Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground as your vacation destination. As you may be aware, Hurricane Irma is approaching Central Florida. In an abundance of caution and for the safety of our Guests and Cast Members, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will close on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

We are encouraging all of Our campground Guests traveling with their own vehicles to depart as soon as possible so you can travel a safe distance from the area. If you wish to relocate to another Resort, please contact us at your earliest convenience by visiting us in person at the Reception Outpost or dialing 407-824-2727 from an outside line. Please note that if you are checking out on Thursday, there is no need to contact us.

Thanks again for staying with us and we look forward to assisting you.

Sincerely,
John Stafford General Manager, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground”
