DVD Review: "Do Dooni Chaar"

From Disney World Cinema comes the light-hearted and heart-warming family comedy “Do Dooni Chaar”, which tells the tale of a middle-class family in India trying to fulfill their dream of owning a car. Throughout their journey, they encounter many obstacles, learn secrets about each other, and discover the true meaning of family.

I already enjoy foreign films, so I suppose I already had a little bit of bias going into this. This film is in Hindi, so be prepared for lots of subtitle reading! The music was great — my younger brother, who is 12, and I found it enjoyable. We thought the story line was good, even though the morals were somewhat predictable from the beginning. I found it easy to identify with the daughter of the family, an angsty college student trying to pave her way through life and get what she needs. My brother liked her character as well.

I think this film has something for everyone, regardless of the fact that it’s in a foreign language. If you ever get the opportunity, I recommend you check it out. It’s also interesting to see how different life is in India versus America. I think the film made me realize how much we take for granted here.
