Hiya Disney Friends! It’s me, Anonymouse, and I have some Disney Vacation Club Gossip that has just resurfaced. A few years ago, it was rumored that DVC would build a resort in the now defunct River Country area. It was eventually scrapped in favor of building the DVC Resorts along the monorail.
With the growth and popularity of DVC, my sources say these plans may be back on the drawing board. As you know, DVC is currently building their final monorail property at the Polynesian Resort. Once this resort is complete, all Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World will have a DVC Resort associated with them. Could this mean we will see another stand alone DVC Resort? Perhaps at River Country? Only time will tell…

Where is the Old River Country area?
You can buy DVC points on the secondary market at a very reduced rate. Some as low as $70 a point. We have bought quite a few this way. So a 160 point purchase would cost approx. $12,000 with closing costs.
I would like to see another resort built. A moderate resort that hasvmore rooms that sleep 5 like at the Bayou section of POR.
It could be Nice, we just got back from the boat ride over to Marketplace over to PO, the whole time My Husband kept wondering what a Disney Vacation Club room would be like. I’m into them 🙂
I sure wish they’d build some DVC rooms associated with Yacht Club specifically! It’s my favorite resort, favorite theme – but now that we’re DVC members, we stay at BoardWalk (which is my second favorite). I guess Yacht Club is probably land-locked, but I still hold out hope! And I agree with Haik – the parks do seem to get more and more crowded at all times of year, so I’d rather have them build more attractions. But I’m sure DVC is a much bigger revenue stream for less cost to the company, than building an attraction. And a whole new park?…that takes unbelievable amounts of $$$ – LOL! – not sure they’ll be doing that anytime soon. Though that would be GREAT!
I was excited about it the first time they brought this out. As a member I really hope it pulls through.
Depending on how much you buy, but for enough for a family of 4 for a 7 day trip yearly, around 160 points, probably anywhere between $16,000 to $20,000 for 40+ years. Usually financed for about 15 years I think if you aren’t rich enough to buy straight up. Plus there is a monthly maintenance charge that is about $90 a month that never goes away as well. There are ways to buy points from owners for lower costs if you do a google search as well.
can anyone tell me just what does it cost to become a member of the DVC?
I think they need to quit building resorts and build another park. The parks are crowded enough as it is!! Who wouldn’t want to spend another day at Disney exploring another park????
