Each year we drive to Walt Disney World, we leave very early in the morning, like 4am! So going to the parks after a 10 hour drive is just not something that we like to do.  Instead, we try to do a Disney non park adventure on our arrival day.  In years past, we have tried different character meals for dinner and have explored Downtown Disney.  This year, when we received our travel documents, we noticed that there were 2 complementary passes for either Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course or Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.  We were excited about trying something new and decided that this was what we were going to try this year.  With the 2 free passes, it was a great deal for our family.  It would only cost our family of 4,  $20 to experience a new Disney Adventure.

After looking over the 2 courses, we decided to try the Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course.  And of course it would not be a Disney Attraction if they did not create a storyline to go along with the attraction.

Here is the story behind Winter Summerland….. “Late one Christmas Eve, as Santa was flying back to the North Pole, he discovered snow in Florida.  After surveying the strange site, he decided to build a vacation destination for his off-duty elves— a Winter Summerland.  Seeing that the only thing Winter Summerland lacked was a golf course, Santa and his elves divided into 2 camps, one that enjoyed the warm Florida sunshine and another that preferred the snow and cold of the North Pole.  The elves then built 2 distinctly different 18-hole golf experiences: a sand course named “Summer” and a snow course named “Winter.””

This Course is located just a few minutes from most Disney Resorts and is right next door toDisney’s Blizzard Beach.  When we arrived we were thrilled that Disney had incorporated the great detail to storytelling that is present in all Disney Parks.  My little ones giggled when they saw that Santa was in Walt Disney World.  After looking at both courses, we decided to play on the “Winter” Course.  At each hole, we found ourselves laughing at all the different predicaments that Santa and the elves had gotten themselves into!  In distinguished Disney fashion, the much-loved Disney Characters were scattered throughout the decor of the course.  We had lots of fun and it was a great way to spend a few hours winding down after a long day of driving.  If you are looking for something to do on your travel day or on your non park day, then this is certainly one adventure everyone will love!  On our next Disney trip the kids have already asked if they can try out the “Summer” course!!
