Disney to Raise Walt Disney World Ticket Prices

According to WDW Magic, ticket prices will soon be increasing at the Walt Disney World Resort. One day tickets could increase from the current price of $85 to $89. Prices for Anual Passes will likely increase as well. Disney has already increased the price of the Premier Passport, which allows you to visit both Disneyland and Walt Disney World from $749 to $849.

This news comes on the heels of price increases at the Disneyland Resort. There was an increase in all regular and park hopper ticket options as well as Annual Passes. While no official announcement has been made concerning Walt Disney World, Disney usually increases ticket prices on an annual  basis. Last year this happened in June.

Will Disney’s price increases affect your Disney travel plans?

Disney has raised prices in the past…but these jumps are HUGE! There is a 30% increase on the premium passes at Disneyland and a 35% increase on their cheapest pass. I don’t know about Florida, but in California, I believe they are trying to eliminate some of their Annual Passholder to reduce crowding. Still…ouch!! And, since the biggest increase is on the cheapest pass…it seems like they are trying to lose a lot of the more budget minded crowd who comes to the park but doesn’t spend while there. Here is an article on that.

This is the first year we have not gone in the last 10 years. Prices are just getting way too high for the semi yearly and yearly visits we wer able to take in the past. Sadly, I don’t think Disney really cares. They give the big vacation package discounts to those overseas and leave the Americans to pay the inflated prices because some will.

The more they go up the less I see us being able to go. As much as I love Disney, and living only a couple of hours away, it’s sad that they forget that not everyone is rich. I hate hearing my 4 girls ask when we can go back and telling them honestly that it’s not possible right now. The last time we went was b/c of the Give a day Get a day promotion.
