As much fun as a trip to Disney World can be, a day off from the parks is a must do especially if you are visiting for more than 3 days. Visiting the Disney parks can be very overwhelming and tiresome so a break allows visitors to regroup and recharge for another round of park hopping. It also allows ample time to think about what parks and attractions have yet to be seen or would like to be done again.

Here is a list of some activities to do on a day off from the parks:

  •  Shop and eat at Downtown Disney.
  •  Sleep in and then go swimming at your hotel.
  •  Visit the various Disney Resorts. They all have something unique to offer.
  •  Find the nearest beach or small town to explore.
  •  Take a Disney tour.
  •  Check out Disney Quest.
  •  See a show like Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba.

Does your family take a break day from the parks? If so, comment below and tell us what you do on your “off” day.

  1. We always have at least one park free day. Most of the time we go to Cocoa Beach, but we have also spent the day at Downtown Disney. It’s a great place to let the kids pin trade, and experience Disney Quest, and it gives all of us an opportunity to rest up for a couple more park days!

  2. On our last trip we had six full days in the parks + half days on our arrival/departure days.

Two young adults, no kids… we figured we wouldn’t need as much rest time as a family family with small children and thought it would be no problem to go hard all six days (open to close)

By park day five (our second full EPCOT day) we were EXHAUSTED but had a late dinner reservation and didn’t want to miss Illuminations, and I was afraid if we went back to the resort we’d never find the strength to come back to EPCOT …we ended up going out the gate and riding the monorail for a while just to sit down and get some rest, lol.
