Disney Confidential – Changes coming to Universal Studios Coast to Coast
Hi there guys and gals! Your favorite leading lady Anonymouse here!
Boy have the rumor mills been churning today! With the press confirming some big changes to both Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood I could not resist the chance to speculate!
First the big news that Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to Hollywood in 2015. While all news media seems to sight an “un named source” and there have been no press releases yet it seems credible since its a logical move for theme park. After all Harry Potter brought in over 7 million guests to Orlando last year! That being said I think its safe to say that because of land constraints the Wizarding World in California will be a smaller version of that in Florida. The major buzz seems to be about what they could possibly plan to close or refit??? Most news sources are referring to it as an “attraction” but all I can confirm is rumors that say it will include Hogwarts, a rollercoaster and Hog’s Head Tavern for sure. Looks like they forgot to mention Hogsmeade Village. It will be interesting to see how these rumors develop into confirmed stories over the next couple weeks. I hope they can make the same magic in Hollywood as they did in Orlando- full size not bite size please! As long as they don’t mind if I spike my Butterbeer I will be there with spectrespecs on.
In east coast Universal rumors it looks like Amity and Jaws will close for good after the new year. Long overdue in my opinion. This ride could be a bit boring unless you were working on your tan in the Florida summer sun. While its kitschiness was a bit endearing I think the refurb was in the wings for a while. And honestly, they had not paid enough attention to Amity in a while. Then again, everyone with a two park pass was at Wizarding World of Harry Potter last year anyway. Some people are in a bit of an uproar about this saying that it was a “classic”. I think the public needs to start trusting Universal Studios. The Harry Potter expansion was pretty fabulous, and who would know better than me? Plus, lets give some thought to what they may be bringing in? Only time will tell but my money is on the new Universal area being a better expansion than the Ferngully Avatar Disney addition!
Only time will tell, but this diva is waiting for Disney to finish Fantasyland and blow all these new and rumored expansions out of the water.
Anywho that is all the time I have for this early morning edition of Disney Confidential.
