Disney Chef’s Serves Up More Than $185K for Florida United Way

Twenty-four top chefs from Central Florida’s finest dining establishments recently joined forces at Walt Disney World Resort for the 19th Annual Chef’s Gala, the premier fundraiser for the Heart of Central Florida United Way (HFUW). Event organizers say the tasteful event raised more than $185,000 for Central Floridians in need.

More than 1,000 guests enjoyed the special evening at Epcot World Showplace on May 21, which featured a silent auction, live music, fine wines and extraordinary cuisine. Proceeds from Chef’s Gala benefit local nonprofit programs supported by United Way that provide food, shelter and many other critical social services.

“This year’s Chef’s Gala was a success by every measure,” said Robert H. (Bob) Brown, President/CEO of Heart of Florida United Way. “Thanks to the dedication of our co-chairs, Disney, the chefs and many other generous sponsors, 95 percent of all money raised will go to help our neighbors, friends, family and co-workers who have recently fallen on hard times.”

Walt Disney World Resort has served as host and sponsor of Chef’s Gala since its inception. Through Disney’s support of the event, more than $1 million has been raised for programs that serve the most vulnerable Central Floridians. Additionally, Walt Disney World Resort is the largest contributor to HFUW with cast members annually donating approximately $3.2 million to the organization.
