Costa Rica

Hey guys and gals Anonymouse here. I have a quick bit of Disney Gossip today coming all the way from Costa Rica…

According to many Latin and Central America news sites the Mayor of Liberia, Luis Gerardo Diaz confirmed that the Disney corporation is taking steps to build one of their theme parks in the Llano Grande, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The land is about 7,000 acres and would be located south of the airport.

According to Diaz, Disney has already purchased the land and are in the process of obtaining permits and other licenses. Building is expected to begin in early 2014.

As of this writing no official statement confirming they are building in Costa Rica has come from Disney and honestly I don’t expect there to be one, for as many websites claiming Disney is coming to Costa Rica there are a bunch more stating they are not.  I understand Disney likes to keep things hush hush but something this big you think Disney would be the ones releasing the news not some local news outlets. Not to mention Shanghai Disneyland is not even complete yet.

Take this Disney Gossip with a grain of salt.

I want to hear what you think. Do you think Disney needs to build another park? Is Central America a good place to build? What about all the Brazilian Tour groups, will they still come to America or go to the new location?

Let me know what you think in the comment box below.

Anonymouse searches the internet, annoys cast members, and wouldn’t think twice about using a Ouija board to find you the freshest Disney Gossip. Some of what she’ll report is confirmed, some is based on information from the rumor mill, and some, frankly, she just read on the bathroom wall in Fantasyland. So take it with a grain of salt and have fun!

  1. I don’t really think i believe this. maybe this mayor got the wrong idea and they’re building another hotel-only resort like Aulani. If they were going to build a new theme park, i think they would wait until shanghai has been open for at least a few years AND proven to be successful. And Brazil would be a much more logical location for this kind of project.

  2. If what you reported recently about Disney putting a Star wars land on hold due to the overly expensive set up of Magic Bands causing bankruptcy, why or how could they do this. Isn’t there an Avitar land coming? All of this is money money money. I think there are to many parks now. Disneyland Paris should be a lesson for the WDW brand. ” If everyone is special, than no one is.” (Dash)

  3. But think about what Orlando had when WDW opened and look at it now. If Disney builds there, then you can be sure the airport will be quickly upgraded. And the surrounding area would quickly develop also.

  4. I don’t believe this for a second. Just another attention grabbing headline. My theory is – if it’s by anonymouse, assume 99% of it isn’t true.

  5. Guanacaste, Costa Rica is beautiful! It would be a great place for a park. The people are friendly, and I know that the locals could really use the tourism money. BUT… the airport only has room for like 4 planes.. it’s super tiny and has no A/C. It’s not the most fabulous part of the trip, for sure.
