Disney if full of adorable, lovable and just have to meet Characters. Let’s be honest, if you’re going one of the Disney parks, there is a character you want to meet. There are multiple ways to make your experience more memorable, and for the Cast Members and other guests around you as well. If we all do a few little things while in line and during the Meet & Greets, it can make it just a little more Magical for everyone!

Wait lines can be long (If you don’t have a FP), especially when you are dying with anticipation to meet that special character. While in line remember everyone else around you probably feels the same. Tired, feet hurt, hot and have kids. Keep an eye on your kids. Don’t let them run around, play on the ropes and bump into everyone. Maybe play a game, tell a story, get others around you involved. Make it fun. If your child just isn’t ready to see the life size Tinkerbell.. maybe sit it out until they are ready. Forcing a child while they scream won’t be fun or magical and might not make them give it another shot down the road. They can always catch some characters at a parade and get use to the “real life” character, not just on TV.

Once your party is counted and you move on to the room where your moment is almost there, quick checklist. Make sure you and your little ones are ready. Hair-Check, Mickey Ears-Check, Dress fixed-Check, Kids mickey ice cream bar face cleaned-Check. Then make sure whatever you are using to take pictures is ready to go. Camera lens is off, settings are right, phone is charged etc. Also anything you want signed, to be opened and ready. Most CMs will give you a friendly reminder. (Hint: Most Characters have thick gloves, bigger pen is best) Make sure your child doesn’t run and cut someone else off. I know, excitement is overwhelming and they don’t know better, just talk and keep them contained until it is their turn. Characters, just liek us, need potty and water breaks.. So if the CM says they will be back in a few minutes, everyone else behind you is waiting too. Making a scene won’t do anything. Nature calls. We can’t stop it! Just know.. they WILL be back. Also know the Do’s and Don’ts.

Alright! The time has come.. Cinderella (or your character of choice) is right in front of you. She is right there! She looks right at you and you just want to burst! It’s you’re time with Cindy, make the most of it! Talk to her, tell her how you just love her shoes, let your little princess dance with her and just be in awe. While the candid shots are so precious, try to plan out a pose you really want your little one to do with the character. If you get caught up in the moment OR want to jump in on the picture of course! There are usually PhotoPass Photographers waiting to snap pics to cherish! If you’re with a large group of 2 families, take a group shot and maybe each family. Do single pictures if it is their favorite picture. You don’t want to spend the whole time just taking 15 pictures and not interacting! While there is no “time limit” there is a whole line of adults and kid alike that are about to burst with excitement just like you were and Cindy has a lot of people to meet! Manners still matter! Be considerate and try to keep it fun, happy and upbeat!

Character interactions are one of my favorite parts of my families Disney vacations! We love the magic of meeting those special on screen characters and get to take a picture with them! We all do a few little things to help our wait, and have a smooth magical interaction, and it makes it better for everyone! If you want some more time to chat or in a relaxed environment, think about a Character Dining! They are fun and sometimes you can find some great Characters!
