Choosing Your Disneyland Airport

Choosing Your Disneyland Airport

We at Chip and Co are your go to Walt Disney World Planning Tips, but we’re more than just Walt Disney World. We are Disneyland, Disney Aulani, and beyond. Stop your searching the web and stick with us for all your Disney Needs. Here and now we’re giving you our Disneyland Pre-Planning Tips.

You may recall we went over some checklist items for a Disneyland Vacation earlier this year. Now we need to choose your Disneyland Airport.

What Airports are there: Disneyland is serviced by many airports. The main three are Long Beach (LGB), Santa Ana (SNA) and Los Angeles (LAX), CA. My personal favorite is Long Beach. It’s a great little airport that is easy to get in and out of. Plus the old school stair ramp exit off your plane is super cool. You could also fly into Burbank, Ontario or even San Diego if you wish.

Playing it Safe in the Parks: Lightning Safety at Disney World

Playing it Safe in the Parks: Lightning Safety at Disney World

What joy spring brings!  Flowers bloom, empty forests refill with abundant green foliage, forest animals make friends with random princesses…wait a minute…okay so maybe that last one was a stretch (unless you are 100% princess like me.  Accept it.  Embrace it.)  Any rate, with all of these spring things comes the inevitable thunderstorm.

Now, I know that there are loads of articles all over the internet on what to do at Disney in the event of rain; I even wrote one, appropriately titled It’s Raining…Not Pouring! Making the Most of the Parks in the Rain!  In this article I’ll give suggestions for making the most of the parks when it rains.  Among my suggestions, head for indoor attractions, be prepared with ponchos, and last but not least brave it.  Brave it?  That is a bold statement, one that should be followed up by some caution, granted, most of us have a generous portion of common sense! Now, I will give my self credit on this article because I did say that if you hear thunder, you should head for safe cover.  But recently I watched a news show with a segment on lightning safety and I have to say that I am so glad I watched!

I’ve never been one to play around with lightning!  When I was  little, my mother would make us shut everything off, we weren’t allowed to stand near windows, we couldn’t use the telephone, we couldn’t go anywhere near water (like even the toilet).  Now that I’m grown, I’ve relaxed a lot; pretty much the only of those rules I keep is to get indoors to safety.  I thought that all my Mom’s precautions were preposterous.  But friends, thanks to some time watching the tube whilst laying on my belly waiting for an allergy panel to react, I got some eye opening information!  I was shocked to learn just how dangerous lightning is!  So, what does this have to do with Disney?  A lot!

Here are some tips for playing it safe in the parks:  lightning safety at Disney World.

May the 4th Be With You Recap & Star Wars Weekend Tips

May the 4th Be With You Recap & Star Wars Weekend Tips

Guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 4, 2013 were treated to a sneak peek of the theme park’s annual Star Wars Weekend festivities with a Limited Time Magic event titled, “May the 4th Be with You.” Guests were given a chance to see all of their favorite characters from the Star Wars films and even take photographs with them.  The Jedi Training Academy offered a chance for adults to join their Padawans in training, and the newly reimagined Star Tours offered trips with some very special guests. The festivities ended with a Star Wars dance party hosted by DJ Lobot and a special “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks display. And of course, guests could also obtain special limited edition merchandise from the event.

Perhaps my most favorite part of the Limited Time Magic was the character interaction—from Storm Troopers patrolling, to wandering Tusken Raiders, and even Darth Vader looming through the park; it was a sight to see and created some extra magical experiences.

Disney Souvenir Shopping: Five Tips to Make it Magical!

Disney Souvenir Shopping: Five Tips to Make it Magical!

You can’t go to Walt Disney World without buying souvenirs!  This is true on so many levels….you want to remember your trip with something special, many items are ONLY found in Disney Parks, and we all agree that Disney has marketing down to a science.  So, how do you decide what to buy?  What’s worth it?  What is something unique?  Let me share with you Five Tips for Shopping for Souvenirs at the Disney Parks.

  • Before you leave, buy Disney gift cards so you can set a limit.  When we travel, we often buy each of our children a $50 gift card, and then one of a slightly larger amount for us parents to use.  This is beneficial because then you have an idea of how much you’re spending AND in many cases you’ll get fuel discounts if you buy the gift cards at the grocery Disney Souvenir Shopping: Five Tips to Make it Magical! .
  • When at Disney, and you find a souvenir you REALLY want, buy it.  Or, make a note of it on your phone or somewhere so you can come back and get it later.  Many times, what you see is probably unique to that park.  There’s a decent chance you won’t come across it later.
