Disney Confidential – Taste of Africa Coming to Animal Kingdom
Anonymouse here I have found several of the Disney website & forums reporting on something new headed to the Animal Kingdom. Mind you this is just gossip and no official word has been released by Disney as of yet.
Rumor has it as Disney is planning on some type of Taste of Africa event this July featuring music, food, shopping and live entertainment. A mini-parade is also part of the plans. Again this is only speculation as no official word has been announced yet.

Disney Confidential: Perez Hilton faces jail time over Miley photo? Plus restaurants and more.
Big restaurant news: La Hacienda de San Angel, the new restaurant in the Mexican Pavilion at Epcot set to open in September, won’t offer flex-serve dining as initially planned. The restaurant, which was to offer quick service for lunch and table service for dinner, will now open at 4:00 daily for table service only. This was to be something of a practice run for the Be Our Guest restaurant in the new Fantasyland Forest scheduled to open in 2012. No word on how this change affects that restaurant.
Elsewhere on property, workers were installing new carpeting in the 1970s building at Pop Century last week. Across the lake, guests could plainly see work taking place at the new Animation Suites, set to open in 2012.

Mega-blogger Perez Hilton stepped way over the line the other day by publishing a photo of Miley Cyrus awkwardly getting out of a car. What’s the problem? I mean, I’m not so graceful myself. Well, the problem is that Miley is seventeen-years old and the photo, which features a common wardrobe malfunction, may constitute child pornography.
Hilton’s attacks on Miley have been downright cruel in the past; no one, particularly not a seventeen-year old girl, deserves to be called ugly names, most of which seem to be based on Perez’ perception of how she dresses. And really, who picks on a kid? Well now it seems that karma has decided to pay Mr. Hilton a visit. A legal expert told Salon yesterday that Hilton’s liability is “extraordinary and intense” and called his behavior “suicidal.” Could formal charges be far behind? Hilton can be charged regardless of whether or not the image is photoshopped , as it’s now rumored to be. How about an invasion of privacy lawsuit by Ms. Cyrus herself? Hilton has already issued a videotaped explanation on his own website, but I doubt the police will care when the law is pretty black and white in this area.
Finally, some news for our furry friends. Disney will be closing its pet kennels at Ft. Wilderness when their new fancy digs open by Fort Orlean. No official date yet, but guests have been told by Disney that the closing date for the Ft. Wilderness kennels is August 26th.

Toy Story Midway Mania Closing Confirmed by Disney.
Disney confirmed today that Toy Story Midway Mania in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing August 16th through the 28th. Rumors have persisted for a while that the attraction would shutter for a week or so after the summer rush, but Disney didn’t confirm until today.
Does this mean that Imagineers will add the much-anticipated holiday games for Halloween and December? Or is it simply to complete routine maintenance and repairs?
We’ll report back as soon as we know.
Disney Confidential: Holiday Changes Coming for Toy Story Midway Mania?
There’s a rumor or two afloat right now that that says that Toy Story Midway Mania will close sometime in late August-Early/September to put up holiday themed games. Just recently, Imagineers added new characters and games from the upcoming Toy Story 3 movie, which opens next week. We’ve been hearing since TSMM opened that it would be relatively easy to change the individual vignettes, but so far this is the first major change. Halloween and Christmas themed games would be a welcome addition to an attraction that is already immensely popular.
No actual confirmation out of Disney yet, but if you’re traveling during that time, just be aware of this possibility.

Disney Confidential – DVC, Dining, and John Stamos Joins the Cast of Glee
I like the latest rumor about the Top of the World Lounge. You might remember reading here last week that the TOTWL might possibly be opened to all guests of Bay Lake Tower, not just Disney Vacation Club owners. Well, the latest news has it eventually turning into a public space, possibly a small restaurant like the California Grill or a place that you can rent out for parties. Talk about an amazing site for a reception or private party.I know this isn’t going to be popular with DVC owners, but the TOTWL isn’t DVC property. Disney often re-purposes spaces that are underutilized, most recently that darling cupola-shaped room over at Boardwalk Villas.
Former Full-House star, ERalum, and hardcore Disney theme park nerd John Stamos is joining the cast of Glee. John Stamos gets points with me for his unapologetic love of Disney parks and his ability to laugh at himself. The fact that he’s easy on the eyes and a good actor doesn’t hurt either. Can’t wait to see what Glee’s writers have in store for him. I hear he’ll play a germ-phobic dentist.
And no, this picture doesn’t have anything to do with Glee.
This is probably the most important issue right now for people planning Disney trips. Well, at least for those who like to eat. Until you hear differently, if you have a valid reservation for a Disney resort, make your dining reservations at the 190-day mark. Have your resort reservation number handy and put it in under “My Disney Vacation.” Next, you’ll go to the dining reservation page. You may have to put in the date you want to dine rather than using the calendar that they provide, but it will work. You won’t be able to make a reservation for any earlier than 190-days, so if you’re making them at exactly the 190-mark, you’ll have to log in each subsequent day to make your ADRs.
There’s been a lot of grumbling online about this. Those who knew about it are ecstatic because they got their ADRs. Those who did not are understandably disappointed, to say nothing of how this affects those who are staying off site. I’m not saying it’s fair or not, but for right now, it’s the way things are. We have nothing defininitive from Disney on whether or not this is a glitch in the system or an actual change. Some Cast Members are telling guests that it’s a promotion to encourage online booking. Other CMs had no idea it was going on. I’ll keep you posted and if something changes, we’ll put it out here and on Facebook right away.
