Last week, Disney Parks Blog announced some of the incredible new details you’ll find aboard the Disney Fantasy when she sets sail in late March 2012.

Here are some more details on the Disney Fantasy Atrium Lobby from DPB:

One element we haven’t told you about yet is the atrium lobby. If you’ve sailed with us before, you’re familiar with that fantastic feeling of excitement you get when you board the ship and enter into the lobby.

Differing from the Art Deco style of the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy lobby is inspired by Art Nouveau patterns – showcasing hues of vibrant blue, green, pink and gold that lend to the overall sophistication of this splendid space. A cascading chandelier made of stained glass and crystal beads illuminates the area from above.

Each of our ships feature a statue of a Disney character cast in bronze. On the Disney Fantasy, the atrium statue is none other than Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse! Inspired by travel of the 1920s and 1930s, Minnie is dressed in vintage fashion with a parasol and steamer luggage at her side. Here’s a shot of Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse while still in development. Check it out…

You’ll be able to enter the newly designed Royal Court restaurant from the atrium lobby. The elegance continues once inside this beautiful dining room that draws inspiration from the classic Disney films “Cinderella,” “Snow White,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

15-Nights, Five Ports of Call-Experience Hawaii on Disney Cruise Line

disneycruiselines1 15 Nights, Five Ports of Call Experience Hawaii on Disney Cruise Line %tag

If you have been wanting to experience Hawaii, but never ventured there on your own, Disney has you covered! With the opening of Aulani in August 2011 and the first ever 15-night cruise to Hawaii (Sailing April 29, 2012) you can now experience this popular tropical paradise with all the magic Disney has to offer.

Experience the highlights of Hawaii aboard the Disney Wonder at the four ports of call: Hilo-Hawaii, Nawillwill-Kauai, Honolulu-Oahu, Kahulul-Maui and sample the unique experiences that each port has to offer.

In Hilo, you can experience all the culture and history of Hawaii. There are many shops, restaurants and museums as well as the wonders of a tropical paradise that you would expect, such as tropical rainforests, waterfalls and volcanoes. If you’ve longed to learn about Hawaii you’ll be delighted to tour the Macadamia Nut Factory and learn about the history of sugar cultivation.

In Honolulu (Oahu) you’ll experience a bustling city that is home to famous beaches, world class restaurants and boutiques and deeply rooted history. Enjoy the feel of city life and then escape outside of the city to the Dole planation that hosts various activites for the whole family and shows the cultivation process of Hawaii’s signature fruit: the pineapple (Dole Whips Anyone?!)Here in Honolulu history is celebrated (stop by the 18 foot bronzed statute of King Kamehameha, the first ruler to unite the Hawaiian islands) and pay respects to the The USS Arizona which provides a memorial of Pearl Harbor. Honolulu has both a deep history and a bright future, nearby Honolulu (in Ko Olina) Disney’s newest resort and spa, Aulani, opens it doors in August 2011.
Kahului is described as the crossroads of Maui, with both busy city sights and the feeling of a private island oasis. Take a drive on Hana, a famous twisting road where you’ll discover breathtaking cliffs and waterfalls. Across the island, feel like a celebrity in Wailea, and maybe see some too! Only the best in restaurants, shops and lush resorts it’s the place to be for the rich and famous! From the creme de’ la creme to the 19th century rustic village of Lahaina; there’s something for everyone on Maui!

Nawiliwili is the oldest of the major Hawaiian islands, with all the grand majestic sites you’d expect to see here: 50 miles of beaches, jungles, breathtaking waterfalls and the peaks of famous mountains (Mount Kawaikini and Mount Walaleale). Sculpted by wind and water for centuries this island is referred to as “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”.

While Disney Cruise Line has not yet released the port adventures you can be sure these landmark sites and tropical locations will be hosting a wide range of activities: swimming, snorkeling, parasailing, hiking, horseback riding and historical landmarks such as Pearl Harbor. The 15-Night cruise has nine sea days and five port days (not including the Port of Los Angeles) with plenty of onboard and port excursions to experience. Let’s hope that a stop at Aulani will be in the future itinerary!

Disney has provided it’s travel agents with these exciting details about the newest ship, the Disney Fantasy! Enjoy!

You will discover a fantastical line-up of new design elements and experiences on the Disney Fantasy when the ship sets sail on March 31, 2012. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the unique features onboard:

“Animation Magic” at Animator’s Palate
The magic of Disney animation comes into the dining room with a new show called “Animation Magic.” The dinner show celebrates the magic of Disney animation and allows families to create and participate in a whole new way.
As Guests are seated, they are invited to draw a character of their own using a simple template on their placemat. During dinner, animated black-and-white drawings of Mickey Mouse appear on large monitors. When Mickey places the Sorcerer’s hat upon his head, magical transformations happen around the room!
For a finale, Mickey conjures the Guest’s drawings – now fully animated and brought to life – into the onscreen action for a parade around the room. At the conclusion, Guests will have their character drawing returned to them with an added touch – a golden seal proclaiming them an Official Disney Animator.

Europa Nighttime Entertainment District
Adults step into a world all their own at Europa – a nighttime entertainment district, exclusively for Guests 18 and older, that features sophisticated bars and trendy lounges inspired by the very best in European travel.

La Piazza draws inspiration from Italian cities and their decorative outdoor plazas. The bar is modeled after a colorful vintage carousel. Venetian masks and a classic Vespa with sidecar add to the Italian flair.

Skyline is a chic bar that provides ever-changing, birds-eye views of stunning European city skylines that transform from day to night.

O’Gill’s Pub is a rollicking Irish bar with modern-day twists. Dark woods, brass accents and a selection of Irish beers create the perfect pub atmosphere for sipping a pint and watching live sporting events.

Ooh La La is inspired by an elegant French boudoir adorned with velvet tufted walls, Victorian furniture and Louis XIV-style chaise lounges. A jewel-box feature bar is backed with sparkling diamond-like facets.

The Tube transports guests to a vibrant metropolitan club via the London Underground. Guests “mind the gap” as they walk across a Tube route map, pose by a red English phone booth and dance atop an illuminated Union Jack dance floor.

“Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular”
A new ship means new main stage entertainment at the 1,340-seat Walt Disney Theatre. Magic lamps, wise-cracking genies, princesses and evil wizards are all a part of this fast-paced musical comedy.
Of course, the production would not be complete without a magic flying carpet scene, which combines mechanical wizardry with state-of-the-art projections, allowing Jasmine and Aladdin to soar as they perform a heartfelt duet.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
Aspiring young princesses and pirates receive the full fairy-tale treatment with pixie-dusted and piratical makeovers at this very special salon.

  • Exclusive to Disney Cruise Line® – Captain Mickey Mouse, Princess Minnie Mouse and First Mate Minnie Mouse makeovers as well as special “Under the Sea” packages will be offered.
  • On pirate party nights, the salon transforms into the Pirate’s League, where swashbuckling boys, girls and grownups can get ready for the pirate life.

Atrium Lobby – Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse
The magnificent three-deck atrium lobby is reminiscent of grand ocean liners of the Golden Age. A focal point is a cascading chandelier of stained glass and crystal beads. The pièce de résistance of the magnificent space is the atrium lobby statue – Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse. Inspired by travel of the 1920s and 1930s, Minnie, cast in bronze and dressed in vintage fashion with a parasol and steamer luggage at her side, serves to welcome all Guests who board the ship.

Royal Court
Guests are immersed in the lavish surroundings of an elegant dining room fit for a grand palace. Royal Court takes design inspiration from classic Disney films like “Cinderella,” “Snow White,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sleeping Beauty.”
Hand-crafted mosaic-tile murals of the princesses and their princes grace the walls. Inspired by the mosaic tile murals in Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom® Park, the mosaics are being meticulously created by skilled Italian craftspeople using more than 200,000 individual tiles.

Disney Cruise Line Begins First Summer Cruise Season in Alaska

Disney Cruise Line Logo Disney Cruise Line Begins First Summer Cruise Season in Alaska %tag

Disney Cruise Line is embarking on a first-ever season of Alaskan itineraries, sailing 18, seven-night round-trip cruises this summer season from Vancouver to Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. As part of the inaugural voyage, the Disney Wonder marks a unique milestone sailing to the 49th state, and officially adding another itinerary option to Disney’s line-up, giving guests even more destinations to choose from for family cruise vacations.

“Our guests have been asking us to sail to Alaska for some time now, so we are thrilled to finally take them to this amazing region of the world,” says Karl Holz, president, Disney Cruise Line. “These cruises give our guests the opportunity to see the beauty and wonder of Alaska, while enjoying a fun, family-friendly cruise that only Disney can deliver.”

As part of Disney’s continued focus on expanded cruise itineraries, and with the arrival of new ships Disney Dream (January 2011) and Disney Fantasy (expected in early 2012), the Disney Wonder repositioned to the West Coast of the U.S. this past January to sail Mexican Riviera cruises during the fall, winter and spring, and Alaskan itineraries during the summer. In Alaska, guests will enjoy a cruise experience that includes breathtaking natural vistas, an abundance of wildlife and the rich history and customs of the native culture.

The inaugural first-call ceremonies mark a milestone for both Disney Cruise Line and the state of Alaska. As is tradition within the cruise industry, Disney Captain Thord Haugen and shipboard officers will host port officials and community leaders onboard the Disney Wonder during the first call in each port to exchange maritime plaques.

Disney Cruise Line has worked closely with Alaskan tour operators to create exclusive-to-Disney family-friendly Port Adventures that allow guests to best experience Alaska. In Juneau, guests will be able to take in the breathtaking views of the famous Mendenhall Glacier from land, sea or air. While in Ketchikan, they can fish for some of the largest salmon in the world and learn about local culture through hand-carved totem poles. In Skagway, Disney Cruise Line guests will have the opportunity to traverse panoramic landscapes by railway or pan for gold like miners from the famous Klondike gold rush.
