Disney Infinity Pushed Back from June Release to August

Disney Infinity Pushed Back from June Release to August

Over the past few months, we’ve been hearing a lot about Disney Interactive’s new game and platform, ‘Disney Infinity‘. The more I see from it, the more excited I get to play it. But unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little long than expected to get our hands on the game. Disney interactive has announced that the game, which was originally slated for a June release to coincide with ‘Monsters University’, has been pushed to August 18, 2013, and August 20, 2013, overseas. Co-President of Disney Interactive John Pleasants said that retailers were so happy with the reaction that the game was getting that they started to question if it would be better released closer to the start of the Holiday season, which begins in October.

Video game delays are nothing unusual in the business, and it shouldn’t cause alarm that the game is in trouble. Pleasants went on to say that “We could deliver in June if we wanted to. Will a two-month timing change help us? Sure, of course. It gives us a little more time to add bells and whistles and make sure it really sings and pops.” I’m willing to take his word on this, because so far, the game seems to handle very well, and it looked right on track for its June release. It’s a bummer that we’ll have to wait longer, but if it makes the game even better out the gate, I’m not upset over it. Are you excited for ‘Disney Infinity’? Are you upset over the date change, or does it not bother you at all? Let me know in the comments below, only here at Chip and Company, and hit the jump to see trailer for the game, as well as its Cars Expansion.
